has anyone else seen this briliant film? i saw it last night and was blown away! it is truly brilliant and george clooney deserves all the praise he is getting for it. not only was it consitantly gripping and stimulating, it was beautifully filmed and directed and written with great atention to detail. it seemed very authentic and accurate and almost like it could have been shot in the 1950's. the other actors were also brilliant especially the guy playing murrow! clooney has created something wonderufl here! can't wait to see syriana!

I thought it looked pretentious and was only getting loads of publicity because of the george clooney factor. Wow! He made a mocie isn't that fantastic-if I was a millionaire I'd probably make a movie for the fun of it, so why all the fuss I say?
In answer to your question though, no i have not seen this 'brilliant movie' and plan not too on principles.

ok....those are intersting principles... i DIDN'T just go to see this film because george clooney was in it though i do like him believe me i am not that shallow! it is a very intense and stimulating film! and it is very topical even though it is about soemthing which happend 50 years ago. it's basic principles are still applicable to todays situation and the media especially in america and how fear can influence people so much that they give up their right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press! it made several very good points and was apparently historically remarkably accurate!
doN#t you think you should at least give something a chance without dismissing it based on "principles" ?

I thought George Clooney did a very strong job in directing the film. The cinematography is stunning, but it's David Straithairn's performance as McMurrow with the intense look and the urgent monotone of his narration that bowled me over.
And although it is set 50 years ago the tones still ring true today.

In my opinion, an absolute must see.

A bit of trivia...
The microphones in William Paley's office are the same ones that were used in O Brother Where Art Thou.

Having now seen the film, I'll agree with this post.

yeh i agree, I was actually in a megaly bad mood when I wrote that and looking back it doesn't make much sense.... I've actually read quite alot about it recently and it seems to be about quite an intersting subject so reckon I shouldn't have been so condascending. I'm not taking back what I said though completley, I do think it got a lot of publicity just because George Clooney directed it, in the same way that Brokeback mountain got a lot of attention not for how good it was but because it was about a contraversial subject. But that dosen't mean to say 'Good Night and Good Luck' will be crap.

fair enough. it really is good and you don't have to like george clooney to enjoy the film. he actually has quite a modest part compared to the leading guy who really is INCREDIBLE! give it a try, maybe it'll surprise you... Smile
