I think this guy has done alot of hard work in the marital arts field and i feel some of his films are underrated because of the violence linked with kicking,Van damme's acting has got better i feel but now he is older, he'll do less action.All in all he may be a bit arragant and stuff like that but i think he is very entertaining and intelligent and i enjoy his films, some of his films are better than others and not everyone likes kicking all the time but i feel Van damme may start to calm down.
He's calmed down alot in relation to movies etc. he hadn't done a movie at all from 2004 to 2006 but he has got some up-coming movies that are to be released in 2006 Check out IMDB

Hard Target, Timecop and Universal Soldier are all great Holywood Martial Arts movies and all feature Van Damme. I think that with V.D, Segal and the *guy who played the Russian in Rocky 4, his name left me as I started typing this, putting out dozens of high action, low brain movies, that people got sick of this sort of thing. I do feel however that its time for a comeback. Enough of the fast toy looking cars and superheroes for a while, bring back the holywood tough guy who served in the marines but has a hazy past, "its like this guy came from nowhere". If not then hopefuly some chinese movie will feature one of the above mentioned as a baddy. (*dolph lungren)
Bloodsport was great for marital arts, one of the classic's but Van Damme was still fairly new to acting, his acting was'nt superb but his and other peoples martial arts was brill. I Just love A.W.O.L because the story is good and just the whole way like the film is put together,like other Van Damme films. Shame he never had an oscar for being a good action hero
Kickboxer, Bloodsport and Cyborg are all good films. Van Damme is a bad actor but his spinning reverse helicopter roundhouse specials are worth all that bad acting... and then some!
