Close? Die Hard is way the best movie. Die Harder is longer, dafter, and has no emotional edge that the original did. The scene where Mclaine had to let the guy die in the original - very powerful. And we knew he was all alone against these terrorists - and the whole dynamic of the emasculated man losing his career wife - the second movie had nothing like that. The daftest bit - the fight on the wing of the jumbo jet. You might disagree but Die Hard is always in the top 20 of most movie charts, and Die Harder nowhere to be seen.

Die Hard is a masterpiece in filmmaking. Die Harder is a joke. Why the hell did they let Renny Harlin Direct. His sloppy direction shows. The film is boring as hell and uninteresting.

I would have to say Die Hard too, it is very rare that a sequel is as good as the original.
And that bit with the blanks where Mclane shoots at the cop, at that range a blank bullet can still kill!

Definitely Die Hard. With a Vengeance was much better than Die Harder, it brought a bit of the edginess back that was missing in the 2nd one. Bruce Willis on Die Hard 4: "I would like to see Die Hard IV happen. If it happens and they get the script right, great. I would consider it" confirmed Willis.

Die Hard, the movie that launched a thousand imitaters. Unbeatable at the time. Lost a lot of its edge now that its repeated every effing week now. There isn't an action movie to touch it still. A classic.
Corporate Spies called John should be neutered.

Yeah. It's also got Samuel L. Jackson in it and I think it's the best one purely because of the banter between them.

dh-the best action flik ever-when hans puts on the accent and 'almost' fools john-1 of many classic scenes.
dh2-gotta love the skywalk ambush and the ejector seat bit.
dh3-originally a script 4 lethal weapon 4.
