Kind Hearts and Coronets has a twist right at the very end - in the last line

How about Fight Club?
There's the elephant. He's happy with his balloon. Oh no! It's gone! Where is it? It's not behind the rhino. Look in the alligator's mouth. It's not there either. Ohhhh... the monkey's got it in the tree! He brings it back. They all drink lemonade. The end.

The sixth sense and the others are the ones that stick out for me, they're endings that i really didnt see coming - and those endings are the best

*Lone Star *Vertigo (actually given away, but in a cool manner) *House of Games *Mulholland Drive/Lost Highway (though we're not sure what the twist is...) *Don't Look Now *Rashomon *JFK *Sisters/Dressed to Kill *Homicide (Mamet) *The Sting *Jacob's Ladder - the same as The Sixth Sense, that 70s TV movie about soldiers who are ghosts stranded on an Island & Pincher Martin by William Golding *Seconds *The Manchurian Candidate and no doubt lots more...

Vertigo is an interesting twist, as it starts as a murder mystery story but reveals whodunnit halfway through, but strangely, only to 'us' and not to the protagonist, shifting the genre of the film from being 'Mystery' wherein 'we' are one step behind the main characters knowledge, to a 'Suspense' story where 'we' are one step ahead of the main character with our knowledge
He did that in Rear Window too, releasing one piece of information halfway through the story but only to the viewer. 'We' get confirmation that the guy is definately a murderer while Jimmy Stewart is asleep. It is the one single shot of the film that 'we' see that isn't witnesses by the main character and that puts 'us' ahead of his knowledge for the rest of the film. Hitchcock was a master craftsman

I keep feeling a terrible urge gnawing inside of me to say Oliver Twist. Although now I've said it I feel much better.

A couple of years ago I had a good idea for a film with a surprise twist at the end. A couple of weeks later I saw "Identity" with John Cusack and realised I was too late.

I did and was not happy with it. Unbreakable was a good one but I saw it coming as well. Still 2 very good movies though.

Ones i can think of at the moment are; 1) Inside Man 2) Derailed 3) Redeye.

I agree with 'The Others'. I didn't see it coming when i watched it at the cinema, but it really took my breath away. I don't think i've seen a film with a twist that has beaten that one since.

The Others, The usual suspects and The Sixth Sense have i think the best twists.
