The remake would need updating... they should set it in Guantanamo Bay.

Frown

That is a travesty, man. John Wark was the ultimate agricultural defender, not a beanpole freak. The casting of Michael Caine, then a 46 year old midfield general, will never be bettered. HMmmmm who could play a non-descript Eastern European goalkeeper who in reality had never heard of "soccer" before? What about getting Chow Yun Fat in there somewhere? I don't know why. Just because. Surely Collina will have to be the ref. Not even the Nazis would fuk with him!

What do you mean?! Its like the non-Boxing Day version of Great Escape! The genius of the casting in that film is unparalled.

Easy there tiger. Escape to Victory is far from a Turtey. Its a fantastic film IMHO. Saw it as a child and loved it, saw it as an adult and loved it even more. The very thought that hollywood is even thinking of remaking this is an insult and offensive to my person. They will fook it up, that is the hollywood way by giving it to some shmuck director. Some classic should be left the way they were. i mean look what happened to Gus Van Sants Psycho....It was awful with no onnce of creativity other than Sants signature [Yawn] fast edits inbetween the shot by shot reproduction of Hitchcocks master piece. Hollywood remake Escape to Victory....will they fook...not on my watch, i will start an online petition to stop that happening.

THE_DUDE, i agree, one of the things that makes Escape such an excellent film is the casting.

Someone should really put together a plan to free those poor screenwriters that the studios have been holding hostage for thew past few years! send the UN, anyone!

I agree with you plan9

*Archangel reports for ITV News on the growing crisis...'
*...Yes Trevor, I'm here at Warner Brothers' studios to what only can be described as an appalling sight. Screenwriter after screenwriter subjected to the worsening condition of re-make. The UN have imposed sanctions but Hollywood carries on regardless. Kofi Anann has ordered an emergency summit where delegates will decide if inspectors should be posted to California - Only time will tell,* Archangel ITV news in Beverly Hills*

I've v. happy about my birthday as to me it's spells SUCCESS! I think of it when I'm down, a quirky boost to self-esteem if you like: late greatGeorge Bernard Shaw, Kevin Spacey, Sandra Bullock, late great Stanley Kubrick!!! Yep I am destined for great thing! Big Grin

Don't take the last hit seriously! I'm not as vain as all that!
