I've just been on the anit daniel craig website and well it's all a bit sad, stoopid and cowardly..as they don't let you have any say on the matter anyhow I just thought I would air my views here:
for those who hate the idea of daniel craig being james bond, here's my rebuttal:
Have any of you seen a James Bond film? You will find it hard not to compare him to a bloody power ranger. He's such a cartoon character not even the scriptwriters take him seriously...AN INVISIBLE CAR FOR CRAP'S SAKE!!!!...I saw that and was like 00-f**k off and had to leave the cinema. Not even K.I.T.T in all his camp faux brit glory would pull that shit off, even if Micheal Knight looked like he was going to be included into some nasty circle jerk with some sodden hybrid of vidal sassoon and the KKK.
Some point's to remember:
1. Have you people seen Syrianna, The Bourne Identity/Supremeacy? a sharp suited superspy is kind of dated you're stretching the limits of beliveability when everyone you come across knows everything about you when you're supposed to be a superspy: "oh James Bond, 007, liscence to kill, her majesty's secret service, you're a bit crap aren't you, I mean I'm a cabbie and I recognise you so the bad guys shouldn't have that much of a problem really..where you off to then?" 2.James Bond films since the 70's have been trend followers don't belive me look 'Live ant Let die' - blackploitation james bond takes on Shaft. 'The man with the golden gun' - Kung fu, James bond enters the dragon 'Moonaker' - star wars - james bond enters chewbacca 'Octopussy' - james bond goes looking for raiders of the lost ark finds a woman with stupid name 3. all actors that have played james bond have at some point been called crap.. sean connery was not liked by the author he wanted cary grant or david niven to play bond. the fans of the book hated the fact that a scot was going to do after wards they all loved him. roger moore took james bond as what it was a joke and used it to sell his clothes check out the cut away shots of roger against the thai backdrop or the indian sunsets, or the skiwear he opt for in the alps, he got so old doing james bond that the only reason for watching was to see if he would fall over and die like the letcherous old man he was...and did you ever see him run, it was like seeing adrunk old man with two wooden legs trying to catch the last kebab van in salford...timothy dalton. honest, worthy shapearena actor wanted to make ageing superspy more "human" for late 80's yuppie audience..found one humorless, arse clenchingly dull roboto deviod of charm and charisma, possibly the worst james bond ever!..yeah I have forgotten lazenby but to say the guy was wooden would be like saying russia is large and full of vodka drinkers...pierce brosnan..the greatest hits of all the bonds, the style of connery, the charm and humour of moore, the build of lazenby, and having all the qualities so lacking in dalton..not hard really any actor with any brains could've have thought wait a sec here bingo I could make this guy my own or I could nick everything from the past and make him what the comsumer savvy public want...hmmm..what to do, what to do?
so you see I hope the new James Bond decides not to muck around with all the gadets andinvisible cars an let's have more of the "FRom Russia with love" (the best Bond film) and less Pepsi, starbuck and smirnov present james "budwieser" Bond in "Never want to see another tomorrow die"
I do find whole anti-Daniel Craig thing completely ridiculous, and the fact that these people have actually put up a web-site too beggars belief. Is this really that serious?! Personally I like Craig will pull it off, although I was hoping that Dougray Scott would get the gig (after seeing him in 'Ripleys Game' with decent English accent). Actually my favourite Bond is Dalton, I found him much closer to the Bond of the orginal novels (which didn't contain any one-liners or gadgets)than any of the others.
Yer I've heard alot of stuff about the choice of Actor for the James Bond Role, they were slagging him off etc. saying there shouldn't be a Blonde haired James Bond, I dread to think the kind of thoughts they would have had on a Black James Bond, as this was a possibility before they chose Daniel Craig...
