Asylum - An inmate of an asylum and a doctor's wife fall in love, tragedy follows.
A very well acted film but really it's all very predictable. Having it off with a nutter was always going to end badly.
They also went beyond what I felt was the natural ending to the film. The last 10 - 15 mins were superfluous.
Wallace & Gromit in The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit - Wallace & Gromit are called into action when sabotage threatens the yearly veg competition.
I wasn't that keen on seeing this but I was utterly won over. It's a marvellous film. Very funny and a visual delight. The amount of detail is incredible. My favourite part was the dogfight in the toy planes. A joy to watch.
The Scorpion King - My expectations were low so I wasn't too shocked that this was pants. Terrible CGI as well.
The Constant Gardener - Justin Quayle (Ralph Fiennes) is a grief-stricken widower trying to get to the bottom of a huge global conspiracy.
I'm not sure whether I liked this film or not. I keep changing my mind. Sometimes I think the film had a real effect on me but other times I think it was a load of stereotypical nonsense.
It's well made and I like the fact that they filmed in the real location. Excellent cast and I enjoyed the soundtrack too.
K19: The Widowmaker - Harrison Ford plays the commander of a Russian sub that could trigger WW3. There are dodgy accents galore here. Some go for the thick accent, others go for more subtlety while some just don't bother.
This film achieved what I thought was impossible, a submarine film that is dull as hell.
Thumbsucker - Lou Taylor Pucci is a moody teenager who can't stop sucking his thumb. Despite a good cast - Tilda Swinton, Vincent D'Onfrio and Keanu Reeves as a zen dentist - I have to admit that this film irritated the shit out of me. I can't stand this teen angst balls. Grow the hell up and stop whining. Bleurgh.
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle - I'm at a loss as to why this film was allowed to be made and why the actors agreed to do it. Every copy of this ludicrous film should be burned and the director punished in a humiliating and public fashion.
The Nugget - Eric Bana and his mates find a massive nugget of gold while out prospecting. There are some funny moments in this film but it drags in places and doesn't take the opportunity to be funny when it can. Bit of a silly ending too.
A Walk To Remember - Shane West gets involved in a prank that goes wrong and is punished by having to do community service in his school. Mandy Moore is the Jesus-loving goody two shoes who melts his heart.
It is pretty predictable but I did get into it and the two leads do a good job. It's quite moving in the end. *sniff*
Kairo (Pulse) - Some Japanese kids get worried about their friend and find him dead. What has it got to do with the sinister website he visited ?
I've been avoiding J-horror for a while now because of long-haired creepy girl fatigue but I thought I'd give this a go as a poster on another site said this was the scariest film he'd ever seen. Either he was watching an entirely different film or he is very easily scared. This film isn't even slightly creepy or scary. Bah. It was a very loooooooooooong two hours. I thought the themes were interesting - loneliness, alienation etc but the pacing made me almost give up.
