Little Women
Hepburn's Jo March was good, June Allyson's effort was sweet and elegant but I absolutely ADORE Winona Ryder, it's obvious from her strong performance that she wanted to be as loyal to this great heroine of literature and her and the rest of the diciples of this book (including me) wanted.
Susan Sarandon is almost saintly as 'Marmee' March and heads the kind of family that you would die to have. The beautiful score by Thomas Newman just wraps you like a blamket for it's just the festive season crammed into one score. Gabriel Byrne is dignity personified as always - Okay Miller's crossing, usual suspects, end of days being the exception - I would almost sell my soul for a life like Jo March's. A beautiful, beautiful fillm 10/10

World Trade Center
While it was really very good, some of the cheesy, flag waving dialogue was terrible. Most of which comes from the guy who plays the ex-marine. Dialogue like, while standing on top of the rubble, "I have to reenlist, they'll new good men to avenge this".
All in all though it is very good.

That, of course, should read 'They'll need good men...

The Queen
Oscar winning performance from Helen Mirren, she didn't act, she was the Queen for the duration of the film.
Very enjoyable.

Scorsese's remake is a truly great film with a powerful cast of actors. Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck, Jessica Lange and of course, Robert De Niro. De NIro had his teeth purposefully disfigured for this role! He's such a force as Max Cady, both mentally and physically. I have nothing but pure admiration for him, his performance is of the highest quality. I love the use of colour Scorsese uses in the film.

Hey Robbie how's you? It's my birthday soon & my mum's taking me to cinema - any recommendations out of what's showing @ the mo?

Howday, how are you? I'm good thank you, exhausted from Thaiboxing but in a good mood Big Grin I recommend going to see either Talladega Nights, World Trade Centre, Little Man or An Inconvenient Truth if it's showing near a cinema close to you. I'm going to watch An Inconvenient Truth on Saturday in Manchester. It's a film about global warming present by Al Gore and looks very interesting. What you been upto recently then?

Ah, nothing like the deaths of 2,973 people or the imminent destruction of Planet Earth to make for a jolly birthday. Wink

Clerks II
Didn't think a sequel was necessary in the first place but it does have some very funny scenes, worth the price of admission for the Lord of the Rings argument alone.

Rabbit Fever
Was expecting a good mocumentary with sterling British humour, oh was I sorely disappointed. Terrible, terrible film.

Children of Men
Visually brilliant, a very dark, bleak and disturbing look at the future. Excellent performances by the cast and an all round terrific film.

Trust the Man
While it's engaging at times, for the most part it comes off as shallow and unoriginal. Watching it you could name many other films of the same subject matter that were far better.

I'm fine too thanks. I'll take your suggestions into consideration, thanks! I think WTC would be too sad for me! Not been up to much, you?

The Princess Bride - 10/10. Love it, wicked film.

Strangers With Candy - 4/10. There were some laughs in it, it wasn't horrendous, but it was pretty bad.

The Notorious Bettie Page - 8/10. Enjoyable, only wished there'd been more dialogue so we could have got to know Bettie better. They did well without it but that's what I think would have made it REALLY good.
