Clerks (again) watched it after watching the sequel a few weeks ago. Still very funny and although a bit rude and offensive I loved it probably more than the first time around.

Next up:-Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma. Big Grin

Zahura: A Space Adventure - Decent kiddies movie

The Cell - Above average movie. Good to look at....nothing else

Click - Entertaining average comedy that falls short IMHO

Snakes on a Plane - I really like this film. Really enjoyed it.......was it because of the hype?

Nacho Libre - Decent film, not as enjoyable as i thought it would be, still enjoyable none the less and some good ideas to boot.

Superman Returns - Good film. Nothing Great mind but very entertaining none the less.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - Not very good at all. Starts of alright then degrades into pure boredom.

Nightbred - Clive Barker....I love this film so much Smile

Flesh and Blood - Quite possibly one of the most pointless films i've seen. Not only was i fighting boredom but also struggling to understand what the hell was going on amast the bossom grabbing and ultra violence. Paul Verhoven's worst.

The Aryan Couple
Its over sentimentality, English accented Nazis, terrible acting and complete lack of suspense makes this film nothing more than a TV movie of the day.
It takes a very serious subject matter and turns it into a soap opera, the filmmakers should be brought up on war crimes.

The History Boys
Superb cast and wonderfully acted but I couldn't help but feel it should have stayed on the stage. Some scenes felt forced, they may have worked in the theatre but not on film. While I did enjoy it, I'd prefer to see the play.

Children Of Men: This was certainly entertaining, more than that in some ways. Unfortunately though, the things that went right served to show up the things that were pretty awful but 8/10 none-the-less.

The Banquet: I love Ziyi Zhang and she's absolutely stunning in this. The sets and costumes are wonderful. The only thing I'd complain about is the ending really, but I won't say too much. 9/10.

Watched the new X-Men movie on DVD which was ok.
Then last night I watched K-19 Widowmaker as I hadn't anything better to watch plus I couldn't remember how the film went as it was so long since I last seen it.

The last film I watched was Green Street (I know it's been about for a while - catching up after a year of too much work!)

I was shocked by how bad the lead actors accent was - a posh/strange cockney mix up - weird!!

The Green Mile: Second viewing of this film, was actually better than first viewing. A great story, with a great cast and a brill director. 8/10

The Departed: First viewing, again, a great film with a few twist and turns. Excellent cast all round. 8.5/10

Middletown
Being released next month (a limited one at that I'd imagine).

Basically the story of a priest that returns after years away to a small Irish rural village and tries to preach the evils of alcohol, put the fear of God into the locals etc.

Unfortunately another dull chapter in the usual bland fare that is Irish cinema I'm afraid.

We Were Soldiers 4/10

Very poor war film starring Mel Gibson, Sam Elliot and Chris Klein. Over-sentimental, judgemental, one sided view from the Americans. It's about the first wave of American soldiers who went into the "valley of death" in 1965, and were defeated by the Vietnamese. This is a typical "American hero" one sided view of accounts which can proudly sit next to another horrible war film, Pearl Harbour! The only uplifting thing about this film was looking at Madeleine Stowe! I particularly disliked the religious overtones, I always thought religion was against war or conflict of any kind! Another reason why the film is so poor.

The Firm 7/10

Another solid performance by Gene Hackman and great direction by Sydney Pollack. Ed Harris is terrific as usual, as is Tom Cruise.

Idlewild: I loved this! It was just so much fun. The songs and dancing were fantastic but the story was also genuinely touching in places and there were some really nice quirky elements running through it. I don't think I'd complain about a thing, it entertained me from start to finish. 10/10. If you like Outcast/jazz/jive/gangsters/musicals then go see it.

Day watch.

You need to watch Night watch to understand what the hell is going on in Day Watch and you need to watch Day Watch to understand what the hell was going on in Night watch.....i kid you not. This film is so random i just can't help but like it. Satisfying conclusion.
