Saw two similar films that were handled differently by its respective directors. The common theme is mixed martial arts

Never Back Down - Above average and entertaining. I don't care what you say, i enjoyed this.

Redbelt - To say this film is excellent on all counts is an understatement. Not only did i enjoy this film on so many levels, it had a profound effect on me. Excellently written (Mamet), deliciously acted by the lead (Ejifor) and others and faboulously directed (Mamet again) this is how you made a martial arts themed film. Go and watch this film now. certainly a worthy addition to my collection.

Hellboy 2. Was looking forward to this one for ages and was mostly happy with the result apart from the ending which was a little bland after what came before it.

Paprika, looked great, story was okay, but a bit lacking.
Millenium Actress, very good film, great story and made me cry, one of the saddest love stories I have seen.
Persepolis, absolutely great, the animation is good, the story is even better and it's just such a great film. Watch it, I highly recommend it to all.

I went to see Mamma Mia, was so disappointed, it had such a good build up, think I was expecting too much from it. Everyone else thinks it is brilliant so think I am in the minority!

Terminator 2: Judgement Day, still looks as good as it did when it first came out.

The Final Cut, it was on Film Four last night, quite odd but enjoyable.

Taken

I don't usually enjoy violence in film, but when you see the underworld of human trafficking, well it gave me pleasure watching Liam Neeson wipe out the scum. Also the fight scenes were very well constructed, two strikes and your out type scenes rather than long drawn out fights. Well, he did have a lot of people to kill in his 96 hour window of finding his daughter alive.

In general, I really enjoyed this film although I thought the plot could've been stronger or more realistic if perhaps his daughter had at least enjoyed one day or two in Paris and if a few of Neeson's friends had tagged along for the action, it would've been a bit more realistic but hey, it was still highly entertaining.

One more hit to soothe the pain Razz

The Midnight Meat Train - Very good film and very messed up, but that is to be expected from an adaptation of a Clive Barker short story. Nice Cool

Taken - Very effective and entertaining thriller with some stunning action scenes. What a rush Cool

Skin Deep - This film was marketed wrong. This is a highly entertaining and sometimes funny film with some great setpieces (this is not an action film BTW) directed excellently by Blake Edwards. You need to delve deeper to appreciate this film which i recon says far more than its cover present. Well enjoyed this.

The Color of Money - Very good film and a pleasure to watch one of the greats at work. He will be missed.
