Taking Lives.

Angelina Jolie stars in a decent thriller in which a man who is supposedly dead kills people and lives their lives. Resulting in Jolie getting unknowingly very close to the killer.

Walkabout 9/10
A teenage girl and her young brother are driven far into the Australian outback by their father for a picnic. For the picnic, the mother has stayed at home. He stops and the daughter lays out the food while her brother runs about among rocks. A shot rings out and the bullet hits the rocks by the boy. The father is firing. The daughter runs to her brother and scoops him up to hide. He shoots at them several more times, then demands that they come back so that they can return home. After a pause the father pours gasoline on the car, ignites it and shoots himself. The children are stranded in the middle of scrub desert with only what little food they can carry. They start walking. They eventually find some muddy water and fruit, but in the morning the water has disappeared and the fruit has all been eaten by birds. And they meet a 16-year-old Aboriginal boy who is doing walkabout, the months' long initiation to manhood where he must survive, or not survive, by himself.
The heart of the story is how he helps them survive, how he looks after them, how sexual feelings arise, how the girl is shaped by her conventional attitudes and is unaware of the boy except as someone who will take them back to civilization, how the boy is shaped by his tribal rituals and has no other way to express himself. The climax of the boy's feelings and his attempt to express them is poignant and sad................ This was an excellent and Visually stunning film with a very good performance from Jenny Agutter, Highly recommended

Boogie Nights 9/10
It’s Los Angeles, 1977, and adult film director Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds) meets Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg), a well-endowed dishwasher in a nightclub. Jack recruits Eddie to be his newest star and Eddie, hungry for fame, quickly agrees, changing his name to Dirk Diggler. Soon Dirk is the hottest star in the porn industry, alongside Rollergirl (Heather Graham), a high school dropout who never removes her roller skates, and Amber Waves (Julianne Moore), the veteran star who pines for the son she's not allowed to visit. On the fringes, Little Bill (William H. Macy) fumes while his wife cheats on him in public, and Buck Swope (Don Cheadle) tries to escape the stigma of being a porn actor. The good times roll, but before long Dirk falls victim to the pressures of stardom and a drug habit that ruins his career while Jack struggles with porn’s conversion from film to cheaper videotapes. Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s breakthrough film is an exhilarating ride along the underbelly of the 1970s inspired by the films of Altman and Scorsese, featuring colorful camera work, a dynamic soundtrack, and excellent performances from the entire cast, most notably Reynolds in an Oscar-nominated comeback role............... This was an excellent film, well recommended

The oldest son agrees without arguments. Actually he has already written two speeches. A yellow and a green one. By the table, he asks the father to pick a speech. The father chooses green. The oldest son announces that this is the Speech of Truth. Everybody laughs, except for the father who gets a nervous look on his face. The Field 8/10
The time is the mid-1930s; the place, western Ireland. For many years rugged individualist Bull McCabe has been cultivating a small plot of rented land, nurturing it from barren rock into a fertile field. Now, however, the widow who owns the land plans to sell it at auction. The infuriated Bull shows up at the bidding, secure in his belief that none of his neighbors will dare bid against him. But Bull has not taken into consideration a wealthy Irish-American, who intends to pave over the land and bring new industry to the area. "This is deep, very deep, deeper than you think" warns Bull, as he sends his grown son to "persuade" the American to withdraw his bid. Armed with the foreknowledge that Bull's tenacity has caused heartbreak and tragedy in the past, the audience steels itself for the awful consequences still to come.................... This was a very good film, well recommended

Domino 3/10
omino Harvey, a former Ford model turned bounty hunter, takes on mythological proportions in Tony Scott's fast-paced thriller. Unfolding in a nonlinear fashion as a bloodied Domino is interrogated by iron-faced Officer Taryn Miles, the film traces the trajectory of Domino's tumultuous life. Beginning with the death of her beloved father, the actor Laurence Harvey (The Manchurian Candidate), Domino develops into a hard-nosed, scrappy young woman who trains with nunchucks beside her mother's luxurious pool and responds violently to anyone who crosses her. Bored with the runway and the glamorous LA life, Domino shows up for a bounty-hunter seminar. Catching the "teachers" of the seminar as they try to cut and run with the proceeds, she manages to win their respect and joins their team. This consists of Ed Mosbey, the tough-as-nails leader and Domino's surrogate father, and Choco, an impulsive Venezuelan who harbors a not-so-secret love for Domino. The three form a kind of family, working under Claremont Williams, who plays Charlie to their three angels. For a time they are unstoppable, even agreeing to let the slimy Mark Heiss produce a reality-TV show about them, But when Claremont orchestrates a complicated inside job in order to raise the money for his granddaughter's doctor bills, the precarious balance within the trio is disturbed................ This film was absolutly terrible and the direction was horrible and is the worst film i have seen this year. Keira Knightley was a terrible choice for this film her performance was awful

Bale Adrenaline boosters today:

Equilibrium - Enjoyed it, interesting story that at least makes you think a little. If you ignore some of the inconsistencies, its a good film. Great cast. Loving the crazy gun-kata!

Batman Begins - Better than I had anticipated. Almost makes me wish I was a fan boy! He makes a good Batman, not as good as Keaton IMO, but Keaton wasn't as good as a billionnaire playboy. What am I talking about? Not important.

The 40 Year Old Virgin 9/10
40-year-old Andy Stitzer has done quite a few things in his life. He's got a cushy job stamping invoices at an electronics superstore, a nice apartment with a proud collection of action figures and comic books, good friends, a nice attitude. But there's just one little thing he hasn't quite gotten around to doing yet--something most people have done by his age. Done a lot. Andy's never, ever, ever had sex--not even by accident. So is that such a big deal? Well, for Andy's buds at the store, it sure is. Although they think he's a bit of an oddball, there's certainly a planetful of stranger (and homelier) guys who've at least had one go at having a go. They consider it their duty to help Andy out of his dire situation and go to great lengths to help him. But nothing proves effective enough to lure their friend out of lifelong chastity until he meets Trish, a 40-year-old mother of three. Andy's friends are psyched by the possibility that "it" may finally happen...until they hear that Andy and Trish have begun their relationship based on a mutual no-sex policy............... This was an excellent and a very funny film and the performances are good, well recommended

Doom

Okay i guess. Very predictable, very cliche' saved [only just mind] by the First Person Moment which IMHO is very well crafted and handled and does its best to remind me of the game.

Other than that its a below average film. Does have some entertainment value tho, but just a little.
