Hi everyone, I was just wondering if any of you had seen the recent film version of Vanity Fair - the one with Reese Witherspoon - and whether it's any good or not. I've been considering buying this for a while, but have heard some odd things about it; mainly that some aspects of the plot are different from the book with Becky doing Bollywood dancing. I'm not particularly a fan of Witherspoon, but I love this novel and would like to see a decent version of it on film, though I am a bit of a purist and don't know whether I would enjoy it if they've messed around with the original story.
Yeah there is random Bollywood dancing (found it a bit odd actually - I haven't read the book btw). I enjoyed the film as a whole. Loved the soundtrack.
I hate purists, they're never happy. You'll probably hate it (even if the story is well adapted you'll find something wrong with it).
It's hard for me to say with any authority that it is well cast, having not read the book, but I found th casting pretty good.
