Question:
I read in the Metro this morning that Drew Barrymore has persuaded Steven to do ET II. I think they should leave it alone. I hated the re-lease with ET in the bath. Why won't they leave the classics alone.

Choices:
Hell yeah!
Must be 'avin a laugh!

They should leave well alone, and not ruin it

It could be good, but it's more likely to be very bad. I think he should leave it alone to be honest, it'll only degrade the original. Frown

He did enough damage with the 20th anniversary rerelease with all the added scenes, and CGI. I grew up with that film, and he destroyed it Mad

If it's not sh*t, he'll probably make a neat sum from it. But no. Can't ruin the legend that is ET.

Come on, its the guys own film! He has a right to tinker with it as much as he wants. We didn't do squat, except sit on our behinds and watch!

If he does do another, and it isn't good, then you've still got the original film which you can watch! Nothing has been ruined, don't worry about it!

The original was bad, so a sequal will be just plain crap.

Tim Burton is great, all his films are good. He is so much better than Steve Spielberg, most of his film are dull and boring.

He was good in the 70's like Jaws and Duel but now he does too many war films.

I wasn't dissing Burton, I like Burton - He does really darkly but comical stories and brings a much needed edge to modern cinema. I knew my earlier post would come across bad, I'm just disappointed in Speilberg - he really should know better!

ET isnt all that great to be honest, far from being speilburgs greatest film. It doesnt need a sequal, what could be done that hasnt been done already in the first film? its his choice but why bother? Also, Burton rules!

Personally, the film meant a lot to me when I was growing up. Saw it on my birthday when I was 7. Opps just gave my age away. Anyway, as soon as you put a film out into the domain, it belongs to the audience. They're are the ones that bought the tickets, the ET wallpaper,(Mmmm again way too much info), invested time and emotion.

On the Burton V speilberg thing. I like them both. but, steven has delved in far more genre's then Tim and I don't get me started on George Lucas. Direct something else already!

No. Didn't like ET that much, even as a child
but I would like to see a proper sequal to
the much better Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind.

ET was initially intended as a sequal to
that but metamorphosised into a sickeningly
schmaltzy tale of a boy and his alien and
ET itself looked cr*p like private parts with a face.

It would be proffessional suicide if he did do ET 2. I never liked the 1st one anyhow, it was well overated.
