Yay! - loved the first one, which I got at an obscenely low price. This one has the great 'Stroszek' (often related to Ian Curtis' suicide, but a laugh riot as far as I'm concerned!), 'Heart of Glass' & the brilliant 'The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser' :
I'm definitely gonna get it - havent got 'Stroszek' on dvd and I've not seen 'Even Dwarves...' - 'The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser' blew my mind when I saw it on BBC2 several years ago, though am not sure anything beats 'Aguire...' which I'm quite obssessed with and is one of those masterpieces I watch and say to myself "Yes, this is as great as I thought it was..." and greater with each viewing (see Vertigo, Citizen Kane, The Conformist, Sunset Boulevard, Barry Lyndon...and so on). Don't think I'll wait for it to go cheap in a chain-store either, seems a bargain when the price of one film on vhs on tartan used to be quite steep....
"See you on doomsday!"- Sadegh Hedayat's suicide note
It's reasonable at the price,5 DVD's for £23. I've only seen Stroszek from the new box. The last one was excellent; I only paid £13 for it in the end. Fitzcarraldo, Aguirre and My Best Fiend I had seen before but Nosferatu and Woyceck were superb. Only Cobra Verde was average really, a basic adventure story. Still a great box set, thanks for pointing it out.
