I watched the film last night and was left with a lot of unanswered questions but perhaps most importantly: what on Earth were those 3 doing in Afghanistan? Why did they go there in the first place?

So this needs its own thread does it?

They were there because there friend was getting married and they crossed the border to Afghanistan because they thought they could help.

From what I recall in the film they said that as well as maybe helping the Afghan people they also saw it as an exploration holiday. I would have thought that any group of young guys would be tempted to do it, just for the experience and to show off to their mates that they went their.
