I've had an idea swimming around in my head for a mini-movie . I walked around the centre of my town at night and realised that it could be a real good setting for a Neo-Noir kinda thing .
So i've decided to get off my butt and film this thing or it'll drive me crazy .
One problem , dont actually have camera and dont know what to get . I definetly want to get a DV one but dont know what kind or how far my money will get me in terms of Quality .
If anyone could suggest a decent camera (nothing more than 300 quid) i'll be forever praying for your fortune .

you want something like a Sony PD150. Not sure if you'll find one for £300 but you could hire one. you just have to schedule your shoot dates so that you get eveything you need. It's a good habit to get in to anyway. Or you could join shooting people and hook up with someone local who has their own kit. where there's a will there's a way. good luck

It all depends on what catches your eye, I picked up a DV camera which was meant to be £270(ish) but I got it for £200.

It works fine and it does what it's meant to so I'm happy with it.

pd150 is more like £3,000. But if you want to make a movie and haven't had any education etc, just start with a camcorder.

Plenty here around the £300 mark:
http://search.ebay.co.uk/camcorder_Camcorders_W0QQcatrefZC12QQfltZ9QQfromZR8QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQsacatZ23781

Also get a copy of Camcorder User or What Camcorder at most newsagents. They have a run down of Camcorders on the market at the moment, their specifications, and price range. They also explain many tecknical jargon and shooting tips.

Worth checking.

Lastly, if you are near Coventry, there is a videographers show selling the latest video equipment. Check here:

Good luck!
