John Bindon was a wide boy type. He was in Get Carter (the original) and a few other '70's pictures. I met him in a club in Kings Road called The Alibi. (good name for a club). I had seen him in several films and liked him. A down to earth cockney. Just as I was getting a couple of pints in, I spotted him at the end of the bar. I went down to say hello. I was pissed and expected him to give me a freeze, but he didn't. We talked. He told me about meeting Princess Margret. He was on holiday with her troop at one time. He saud that he was going to write a book exposing 'all that royal crowd.' 'The people don't know what's going on' he said. Anyway we had a good drink together for an hour, then I returned to my mates. A short time later - he is dead. What happend to him is anybodies guess. They say he died of some medical condition. Yeah.
John Binden was an alcoholic so probably his death was alcohol-related. I very much doubt that, given his alcohol intake, he was capable of writing a note to the milkman let alone a book!
Digger, sorry to pull you up m8, but John Bindon died in the chelsea and westminster hospital on the 10th of october 1993 from complications relating to the disease from which he suffered...........AIDS. He had become a virtual recluse in his last years.
