Has anyone here been to a film festival, or even had their own film shown publicly?

Just curious. Myself, I have entered 1 film at two amature FF. It was my first attempt, and I'm not proud of it. Teh sound quality was awful. Still, I learn from my mistakes. My next one will be better.

Anyone else?

Our last short film, Chaingangs was shown at Cannes 2004. It was also a finalist at last year's BBC Brief Encounters festival in Bristol and actually won the London 2004 Sci-fi festival. Its 4 mins long and we made it for less than £80. We have just entered two films for Cannes 2005, one of which is another 4min effort we made for £500, but the other is 23 mins and cost nearer £20,000. You definately have the right attitude though. Start small and just expand and improve with each attempt. It's a craft, the more you do it the better you get. Simple. Join Shooting People too www.shootingpeople.org, if you haven't already. Good luck.

and you should be proud of it no matter the mistakes. Most people don't even get past the first hurdle. There's a saying "geniuses finish"

Thanks Kieser. I am 'relatively' proud of my film, but only relatively. I won’t be too proud until I know my film was worthy of being a contender with the greats. Even then I hope to never be a stuck up prig like some filmmakers appear . Congrats with your films, and hope this new one does well! (Grr Mad- jealousy- but in a nice way Wink)

Anyone else entered a film? Anyone just been to a Film Festival? Anyone going to one this year? Confused Cool

Good going to you. I wish I could make a film. I don't know anyone who would want to act and I am a bit embarassed about actually writing a story and such. if that makes sense.
