it isn't such a sad story now. it's getting better. listen to this -

leroy's dad came in today and said he thought he'd found a lovely new home for me.
leroy's dad has a sister called petunia and she loves cats but hasn't got one any more. she has a nice house and a garden. there's a big man living there as well but he likes cats too so he's not a ler jick.
she hasn't got any children but she's leroy's aunty and he goes to see her a lot so he could still play with me.

it all sounds just wonderful. i'm so excited.

leroy calls her "aunty pet" because when he was very little he couldn't say petunia - so she really IS a pet.

She's coming on saturday to babysit leroy while his daddy goes out. so i shall meet her then. if i like her and she likes me she will be my new pet and take me home with her.

i just can't stop purring.

i think i had better brush up on my pet check-list before tomorrow. it might need some alterations after all i have learned.

THINGS I HAVE LEARNED IN CHOOSING A PET

1. choose a nice lady as they are easier to train (mrs belle told me that )
Yes, but how can a cat always tell? i thought the last lady was nice at first but she wasn't.

2.make sure the nice lady is rich so she can keep me in the style to which i would like to become accustomed. (mrs belle told me that too )
how can a cat tell that either? the last lady got lots and lots of money from mr. benny fitts but she didn't spend it on anything nice for me.

3. make sure the nice lady doesn't belong to another cat already - unless the other cat is cute and friendly like me.
o.k. on that one. leroy's aunty pet hasn't got another cat.

4. make sure there isn't anyone else living in the house who is a ler jick (whatever THAT is! )
i THINK that one is ok too. there is a man living in the house but leroy says he likes cats and he isn't a ler jick.

5. try to find a nice lady with some human kittens who will tickle my tum
(machel told me that one. )
That was a CATastrophe. the human kittens either fought over me and hurt me or used me to play "animal hospital" or dressed me in baby clothes to play "teenage single mothers" and the baby one pulled my poor tail and tried to put it in her mouth.
mind you leroy is nice though. he tickles my tum. i love leroy.

oh dear - it's very difficult for a cat to know what to do for the best.

hi little un. no time to read your stories, just to let you know i am in bologna, florence tomorrow - just booked my hotel on line. i STILL havent seen any italian puddy tats tho

but they do have beautiful ladies with little dogs about the size of rats!! love to you and mrs mags and all your forum aunties!

Hello mrs belle. are you having a lovely time in italy? i have SUCH a lot to tell you when you get back. lots of exciting adventures - some nice and some not very nice.
and i have got a new star!

I wouldn't mind dogs if they were the size of rats. i could soon show them who's the boss.

i am sooooo excited. today is the day that leroy's aunty pet is coming to see me.

i have spent all morning making myself beautiful. my tongue quite aches with all the effort.

leroy has brushed me with a special brush for cat fur and leroy's dad brought me a beautiful blue sparkly collar from the pet shop. i have had a good long sleep so my eyes are bright and shining.

i keep looking at myself in the mirror and i feel very proud. i don't see how aunty pet will be able to resist me.

Oh ms fluffy, of course i've not forgotten about you. i've kept trying to get on the forum to tell you all about it but i couldn't even manage to sign in.

Well, aunty Petunia came to leroy's flat on saturday and she is very nice and she thought i was a beautiful cat. ==
She stoked me lots and played with me and gave me big cuddles.

when leroy's dad came back, he drove her home and she took me with her. leroy cried a bit when i went but aunty pet said he could come over and see me in my new home on sunday.

it was late and dark when we got to aunty pet's so i didn't have much chance to look around until morning.

but it's a nice house with a big garden and i think there are some fields at the end of the garden. i've not been allowed out though "in case i get lost" aunty pet says! == I've sat on the windowsill for a long time though and looked outside.

aunty pet is lovely. she's everything a good pet should be. she's VERY attentive and strokes me and plays with me and makes sure i have the right food.

I'm NOT entirely sure about the food though. it's little dry hard pellets out of a bag with a picture of a cat on it. called "royal canin" or something.
aunty pet says it's really good for cats and has everything a cat needs but it's not as interesting as ken tucky fried chicken - or even that big mac. and i can only have fresh water with it and not milk because apparently milk isn't good for cats either. == ==

of course aunty pet needs training yet. i'm hoping that in time i'll be able to train her to open the occasional tin of tuna for me.

leroy came over on sunday afternoon to see how i was settling in. i love leroy. i purred and purred and purred. we played a lot. he brought me a toy mouse and then i went to sleep on his lap. he says he's going to come and see me a lot now because he's finished school for the summer. he might even come and stay for a week or two.

there is one thing i'm not sure about though - a very big man lives here too. he says he likes cats and he tried to stroke me but he has a big loud voice and i hid under the sofa when i saw him. i think he'll be all right but i'm keeping out of his way for a bit till i'm sure.
aunty pet says he is a big "pussy cat" too - but he's nothing like one in my opinion.

So i think it's going to be alright. it's early days yet and the last pet was such a let down that i'm not going to be too hasty. but it's looking good so far.

of course, like any new pet, aunty pet will need a lot of training but she seems quite keen to learn how to serve a cat properly.

i'll give her a week's trial and then i'll decide whether i'm going to stay for good or not.

Aww. That sounds lovely Little Cat, and you'll still see lots of Leroy. Try not to be nervous of the big man, I'm sure he'll be ok. After all, I'm sure Aunty Pet wouldn't let him stay with her if he was nasty. When she says he is like a big pussy-cat, it's just another of these expressions that humans use to mean that the person is actually loving and gentle. It's unfortunate that he has a loud voice, but sometimes people don't realise how loud their voices are.

*checks to see that there's nothing going off in the fridge*

I spent most of this morning sitting on the windowsill in the sun looking out into the garden. it looks nice out there but aunty pet says I can't go out yet. ==

She has got a book called "Caring For Your Cat". she keeps reading bits out of it. it says that when a cat moves to a new home it shouldn't be allowed outside for three weeks !!!!! ==
i'm not going to stand for that. as soon as i get chance i'm going to sneak out and look round the garden.
this book also says that treats of meat, chicken and fish are not recommended by vets. == ==
so it looks as if i'm going to be stuck with these dried pellet things for some time.
(thank goodness for my secret stash in the forum fridge heh heh ! )

thank you so much machel. i know aunty pet wants to do the best she can for me but i do enjoy a few little "naughty but nice" treats.

I think i'm beginning to get used to the big man a bit more. I still hide under the sofa
when he comes in the room (i just can't help it somehow!) but i let him bend down and reach under and stroke me now. i even purr a bit which seems to please him.

He still looks NOTHING like "a big pussy-cat" to me though, in spite of what aunty pet says!.

i wish aunty pet wouldn't keep reading this cat book. i heard her asking leroy's dad on the phone whether he knew if i'd been vaccinated or not!!!!

she said she been reading in the cat book that cats shouldn't be allowed outside until they'd been vaccinated.

i don't know what leroy's dad told her but if i see her heading towards me with a cat carrier - I'm off!!!

Hello Little Cat.
I know it's scary being taken to the vet's to be vaccinated but it IS for your own good. There's a lot of nasty diseases out there that could make you VERY ill or even kill you if you aren't vaccinated.
Even us humans have our human kittens done when they're babies you know.

Anyway, being vaccinated at the vet's isn't that bad you know - just a little prick. (that's the needle NOT the Vet himself! )
