Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our lovely Elwood on Monday, he was at the vets 3 times last week and seemed to be doing ok but he deteriorated over the weekend and my two sons and we took the decision that enough was enough.

What a sight we were, three adults crying like babies

us cats seem to have a habit of keep dying. we don't want you to be sad though. Most of us are so kindly looked after by our humans that we are very happy to have had such lovely lives. We know you people have a nasty habit of leaking from your eyes on such occasions, and we can but lick it off for you.

Veggieburger I am so sorry I have went through this myself with my dog ,I know how you are feeling,it is a very hard choice to have to make but you have made the right one ,as your lovely cat is now at peace and is not suffering anymore,he is with his brother now ,crying is good for the soul its the only outlet we have and it does help ,take care

I miss my cat and he has been gone for years! I lost him when he was 13 and in the end he just laid there with a coat so dry..it broke my heart to take him to the vets but he was in so much pain, it was the least I could do!

I`ve been where you are now.

My kitty-kat was slender to start with, and couldn`t afford to lose much weight. So her end came a lot quicker.

I have not had a pet for a while now coz of the heartbreak of losing it again

Me neither. It`s been 18months since my own cat died.

I still havent locked off the cat flap, so I still get neighbours cats visiting. One in particular is desperately trying to get me to adopt her. She spends all day round here, either curled up on my lap, or laying on the bed with me (usually sitting on my shoulder or hip). As I know who her owner is (next door but one) I don`t feed her, but it doesn`t stop me having the benifits of cat company or purring in my ear!
