According to the ever reliable mid-week sales, the Arctic Monkeys 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' is out-selling Sugababes 'Push The Button' for the No 1 spot by 2,500 copies...
C'mon the Monkeys!
There's the elephant. He's happy with his balloon. Oh no! It's gone! Where is it? It's not behind the rhino. Look in the alligator's mouth. It's not there either. Ohhhh... the monkey's got it in the tree! He brings it back. They all drink lemonade. The end.
I only ordered my copy of the CD late last night, so that might help 'em too... I already downloaded it for 79p , to see if it was different from the version I got back in May. Not sure it is....
I felt obliged to buy it (two times...), as I have 20-odd Arctic Monkeys tracks courtesy of the kind bloke who goes by the name of The Sheriff. He has/had a site dedicated to them and around the beginning of this year (time flies!) used to put up all their demos, etc.
I shall buy their album too. They should get the support and recognition they deserve.
"A Certain Romance" is great too.

** A bit of Tuesday morning trivia for you pop-pickers: B-side of the Lovebites single (CD2) is a cover of the T.Rex classic, "Jeepster".
The father of two of the teenagers (lead singer and guitarist) is a huge Marc Bolan/T.Rex fan. The older brother is lead guitarist with rock band Attica, Gaz Bolan. They were all clearly brought up on T.Rex from an early age ....

I know most of the time the single's charts don't matter (unless you're Lisa Scott Lee) but it's at times like this it really does. The Monkeys are the true underdogs, from nowhere to super stardom in just a few months. They could well now acheive something that bands as big as Radiohead, Pink Floyd (I think anyway, I might be wrong) & Coldplay have never done. They deserve our support!
Oh & not forgetting, it's a bloody good song too...

This is good news, I'm always a little excited when proper music gets to the topspot. Hark at me, I sound just like that moaning fella who buys all the 80's reunion compilations from Woolies bargain bins.

I read this post briefly and for a split second thought you'd been posting all this time as two different people with two IDs and logged in with the wrong one

Sorry to be so anal, but The Floyd did get a number one 'Another Brick In The Wall' in 1979 (the Xmas No 1 that year, no less!) and one of very few singles they actually released. Coldplay probably would have had a No 1 by now had they released 'Clocks' instead of 'In My Place' (which is an awful song IMO).
I agree with you, Arctic Monkeys (good song...) at No 1 would be significant in chart terms.

3.5 days to go. Fingers crossed..........
I had a feeling I might've been wrong about the Floyd...
Fingers crossed for Sunday, please don't let McFly pip them at the post...

Got to be Arctic Monkeys for number one, they are fab! Great live too, never seen anything like Astoria a couple of weeks ago! Mind you the crowd were as entertaining as the band! Fair play to Alex for threatening to walk if people kept throwing bottles at him though - how rude?!
