i saw el presidente at the trent student union a fortnight ago and loved them. they have a slight scissor sisters vibe about them in that they managed to get the crowd (is an audience of 30 classed as a crowd?) dancing and clapping along through out their entire set (which is an achievement especially with the poor quality of the support act). i think theyre a scottish band and they have a quite ecletic look about them.
has anyone else seen them live or heard any of their songs? what do you think...are they going to do an arctic monkeys or just fade away into nothingness?
Hi

I think there was a thread, a month or two back, where someone asked who the band busking in the street on some C4 Music show were.
Quite entertaining live - I saw them supporting Black Rebel Motorcycle Club the other weekend. Energetic, sparkly and shiny, with big meaty glam riffs through much of their stuff.
The frontman has tons of energy and is very engaging live.
Visually, reminiscent of The Killers if they had a female drummer and female keyboard player LOL
They are what the Scissor Sisters would sound like if they took their cue from Bolan/T.Rex rather than Elton John!

"Give Me A Sign" (on CD2 of the El Presidente single "100 MPH") is basically T.Rex's "Metal Guru"....**
I kinda like them for a electro-pop/glam band .... not quite as nice 'n' sleazy as San Diego's finest,
Louis XIV ,though!
** T.Rex's "Metal Guru" must be one of the most regurgitated songs ever. I listen out for these things.

Suffice it to listen to:
"Metal Guru" - T.Rex
"Panic" - The Smiths
"Letter to Dominique" - Louis XIV
"Give Me A Sign" by El Presidente
Take a listen - basically all the same tune!
