A lot of the bands I like are relatively non-mainstream, but I'll just go for one for the moment:

I got into the Gossip a while back, and I think they're great and definately deserve to be heard of more around here. Beth Ditto is pretty awesome.

The Long Blondes are good!

I saw them when they opened for a Franz Ferdinand concert I went to with my friend and I was really impressed.

They also defeat that b*llocks in the thread about girls and guitars.
