Heaven knows I'm miserable now (quite apt for me!)
There is a light that will never go out
Shoplifters of the world unite...especially for Johnny Marr's guitar playing! Cool

I'm still torn between Panic and There Is A Light... Probably the latter.

Has to be How Soon is Now?, though sometimes That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore does it for me severely...

There is a light that never goes out. Absolute magic when you are 14 and feel completely alone as I did. Frown

Another vote for There Is A Light here but with honourable mentions to Girlfriend In A Coma and I Know It's Over.

i know it's a chessy choice, but i'm not a big Smiths fan.... but This Charming Man is a song that absolutel kills me every time I hear it. I don't know why, but I can actually feel something in it... so sincere. one of my favourite songs of all time actually... and like i said, not a big Smiths fan

Couldn't single out one:

That Joke isn't Funny Anymore
This Charming Man (can't describe how I felt when I heard Marr's guitar on this for the first time)
As Smiths ballads go I prefer This Night has Opened my Eyes, but must also nod to There is a Light...

Best album: The Queen is Dead.

Best Smiths song?

"William, It Was Really Nothing".

It's got everything; Marr's gorgeous, insistent, bittersweet guitar, Mozzer's knowing, sardonic voice breaking into a sudden tender soprano; his yearning lyrics, which every youth stuck in a dullard town staring down the barrel of a pointless life could relate to; one of Andy Rourke's amazingly inventive tune-within-a-tune basslines... and of course there's its brevity: The Smiths made their point and then they were gone, like a vegetarian's fart dispersing into the Salford night.

Hang on. Cousin Teresa.

Am I hallucinating?? Was it something they put in the Falafel?

I was just yearning for the return of you and other like-minded souls in another thread in this soulless place.
Then spotted you at the end of this discussion. Eek
I need to lie down!
Don't stay away so long next time!
