yes. very underrated band. (then again, they didn't help their relationship with the media by beating up journalists)

Hugh Cornwell & Jim Dury's book "Stranglers, song by song" is excellent- Cornwell's interviewed about every song he recorded with the band.

intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics, wry sense of humour, and they dabbled in experimental styles as well as writing catchy tunes.

and great musicians to (Doc Marten) boot.

yea, love them. JJ Burnel used to live down the road of one of my mates! I saw him play at the local pub once, pretty good.

I like their stuff from circa 1977 like Hanging Around and No More Heroes. I love Dave Greenfield's sweeping keyboards and JJ Burnell's thunderous bass!

Amuses me to hear Radio 2 playing the cleaned up version of Peaches: "Oh no!" & "what a summer!" They play Golden Brown to death though.

Great stuff.

If there is one track I cant stand by the band it's "Golden Brown"

I now believe that introducing me to the track, 'Peaches,' was my father's considered and sagacious ploy at avoiding/taking care of "The Birds and The Bees" chat.
