dude, where did ya get that from, they've been making new seasons and episodes every year, they've been guaranteed 2 more seasons which will run to 2008 and then FOX will decide what to do, personally, I think its time to pull the plug...

I saw a program last year that they're aiming to get to at least season 26 but i don't know if its true or not

No it isn't true. Season 18 is airing now, with the film in between, Season 19 has been commisioned, and Matt Groening has said that it will run for 20 seasons. So there you go. And they did not stop maing it two years ago.
