I had to write an article on this for college. When this show started out, the religious community hated it. Now, it's actually taught in some Sunday Schools. You can see my article online at dadblogit.com.

He that's pretty good. The Simpsons is one of the most meaningful shows ever, only some don't seem to get that. Good job.

there is a book called the gospel according to the simpsons which explores the themes used in the simpsons

Bart - So dad you saw God what was he like

Homer - You know Clean teeth, nice smell a real class act

and

Rev Lovejoy - Homer God wasnt trying to punish you but he was working in the hearts of your friens as they worked to save you wether they be christian (and points to ned) jewish (and points to Krusty) or miscallanious (and points to Apu)
