There are many sentimental moments within the episodes.
The episode that stands out for me was the one where Homer's mother had to leave and at the end of the episode he is just sitting on the bonnet of his car under a star lit sky reflecting.

Yeah I have - books are fiction but they can still make you cry, so why not cartoons? The one where Marge thought Bart had been shoplifting again but he'd actually framed a picture of himself for her. Also, where Lisa and Bart play pee wee hockey together then remember all the memories they have of when they were young and drop their hockey sticks - really sweet!

I came close the other night. I was watching Bart the General (the scene where Bart has just been delivered a right kicking from Nelson and his cronies and he goes to the bathroom to recover). When Homer comes in and finds him begging for help I almost shed a tear, but the subsequent hairdryer gag and Homer's 'code of the schoolyard' platitudes are so good that I couldn't stay upset. The 'don't be pathetic it's a cartoon!' argument is understandable, but if you really want to see how a cartoon can make you weep like fresh operation scars in a hot bath then check out some of the old Fleisher brothers cartoons from the thirties (not the Superman ones or the films, but the more depression orientated ones like 'Somewhere in Dreamland'). They'll have everyone bawling. Well, maybe not everyone, but check then out anyway - they're too often forgotten.

Why does a cartoon have any less right to be emotive than a film or a book, yes the series is based in comedy but so is Only Fools and Horses and you still feel sad when Uncle Albert died or when they lost all their millions.

So you never cried at Bambi? If you didn't then there must be something wrong! Yeah it's a cartoon but they can make you cry... Like movies make you cry too... it's all fictional but it's good if it hits your emotions now nd then...well, those of us who have them....
