Your lucky Owain, my girl shudders at the thought of getting her hands dirty. She may snap a nail...

Dare I bring this up?
Last night at a do I heard one of the funniest stories ever..... it was to do with..... MA-G!
'Twas from somebody who works at the Uni.
Laugh? I spilled my drink, twice!

Cheers, you can post it on TH if you like, I have brought it up there.

Funnily enough I was chatting about Boon's work in Caerleon Museum today.
It was mainly his theory on Risca (St Mary's) which I have never read. The general chat was about Roman industrial sites.

Visited St Peters Church in Henllys today.
Climbed the tower and got a few photos from there.
I managed to get a free copy of the church's history, I must admit I always had it down as being within Llantarnam's remit not the Bendictines at Bassaleg.

page 2! I will be organising a trip to Tewkesbury Abbey, which isn't too far over the border, if there is enough interest. If you fancy coming then me know on the Midlands thread. Chris

My fault it was on page 2 Chris, we were all Romed out... I'll try and make that one, a good pub would be nice that serves a good selection of food.

The geophysical survey will be interesting and I hope he does complete an earth work study, it would be incomplete if they didn't.
I nearly had time to have a look at the site myself a few weeks ago but time wasn't on my side and I had to rush back to Cardiff. I haven't checked the websites lately but has much been published on the site or should I say area? I have read Ray Howell's reports of course but haven't delved any deeper than those.
What area does Monmouth archaeological society cover anyway? Is it the old area as in Gwent or just what is now the county of Monmouthshire?
It certainly sounds like a fascinating site. Hopefully we can look forward to some more info from you in the near future.

Oh! And is Steve Clarke an approachable chap by e mail?

I believe the society's name refers to the town of Monmouth not a county, D. Obviously, they do not confine themselves to Monmouth itself (although much of their work has been carried out there).

Interesting, I dont suppose you would happen to know if they undertook the watching brief over the Llantarnam bypass?

I am not sure about ringing him, although I could just to say check your mailbox but that may be a bit cheeky!

A really good prog - but, perhaps a bit much following Alan Tit's offering yesterday. Also, I much prefer Iolo in his first language.

Typical, I have just been working up there for the last two days. I only have Meins report, none of the reports from the nineties, I'll have to get hold of them somehow.

Odd people in the mid west of Wales, you have to ask for permission to leave the pub and then they have to unlock the doors for your escape. Nice to hear the national laungage being spoken everywhere though even if I couldn't understand most of it.

Whats happened to Cardiff again then folks? It does happen quite regularly throughout the year in the centre of town. If the pressure is high and there has been a bit of rain fall the sewers (if that is what you are both chatting about) cant cope. Anyway, hasnt 'smelly Kerdiff' got a nice ring to it?
