Steve - thanks for fighting our corner, and for everything you've done over the years.
May I ask what reasons have been given for the closure of the Time Team Forum, which is, after all, the oldest and (some would say) the venue for the most intelligent and varied debate of all the Channel Four fora?
I'm tempted to suggest that this is a natural consequence of the fact that the fourth channel were persuaded to migrate to the UBB (now called InfoPop) 'Eve' bulletin board, so that they could increase the number of separate forums to (what is it now?) 88 different subjects - thus inevitably reducing the capacity for each of the original fora.
It's a sad day for all of us. I do hope that a suitable alternative venue can be found, and that Channel Four will have the grace to forward all enquiries on - as many posters who visit less often than those who post regularly will, no doubt, be searching for the Time Team Forum for some years to come.
The thing is, once upon a time, a thread title like this would have prompted several pages of replies by now, with lots of indignancy, lots of arguing and a lot of very cross people.
There's not many people here to get cross now. A victim of its own success, there are fan sites, groups and message boards all over the shop, so who'll miss this one when it's one amongst so many others?
Times change, but it's sad to see the *only* thing that is even an indirect link from viewers to programme disappear.
Anyone have any recommendations for what the Time Team equivalent to the legendary Outpost Gallifrey is?
So long and thanks for all the geophys...

Creatively, I mean.
Email me right now at madrid.stories@gmail.com and I'll send you something (+/- 7000 words) you can give me an opinion on - and maybe enjoy if I'm lucky!
Now Chris, are you sure your Chris D, not Chris E?
Have you seen the Bad Wolf?

Yeah, thanks for all your input over the years, Steve. Where are we all going? I see we already have a couple of choices. are we going to concentrate on one in particular or will we be blown to the four corners?
Melter makes a good point. Why are other fora still available for series that are no longer produced but a forum for a popular ongoing series is to close?
Still, I guess that's C4 for you! Always responsive to viewer needs and wishes . If I thought the post might not be deleted and me get banned, I'd say exactly what I think of it!
I am one of the infrequent visitors and don't think I have ever posted on here. Doesn't mean to say I have not enjoyed reading some of the posts though.
The first Channel 4 forum I joined up for was That'll Teach 'Em which was closed down but a new one started for each series shown on TV. Very unsatisfactory and some people did not return at all. However by saving the link into your favourites you can read the posts on the board for quite a while after it disappears, just cannot post.
Bye all!

Thanx to everybody, past and present, who Wendy and I met, argued with, laughed with, over the two years or so that we've been on here, and who helped me keep my sanity, over the last 10 months...please keep in touch...
It's a shame this site will be closing soon although I can understand the decision because the number of posts are pretty low at the moment and even the number of comments about individual programmes have declined heavily. I think even last year there were pages of posts after a programme whereas this year there's very few. I wonder if any of the other Channel 4 forums have led to the friendships that have developed from here, not forgetting the relationships and at least one marriage. I know I'm not the only one who's been helped through a bad patch by the other contributors to the forum. Oh well better go and bookmark Co's site before I forget. Jonathan

Well I do have Chris Ecclestones ears, Mary, so who knows I might be
A year or so ago I might be a little more gutted then I am now about this place cosing but, I 've thought for some time now that this forums really had it's day (not unlike Time Team itself)
It was good while it lasted but things and people move on.
Who is going onto the History site to warn them about the refugee problem they are about to encounter? The end of an era, but for me and Lesley and a few others it's for the second time because the first TT forum was considerably different. At least we made some friends, upset some tree huggers, had some good flame wars and exchanged a lot of information. I wait to see what new fora will appear and whether they will be for the knuckle draggers.
Further to previous postings on here, it's now possible that the Time Team Forum will not close after all. A final decision will be made early next week, so I'll let you know what happens then.
I think it was trashed by someone. I didn't consider my suggestion of changing the TT theme tune to the Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" too offensive
