FRIDAY 28th

Restoration Village
First in a new series of nine programmes.
In "Restoration" viewers were given a chance to help save their favourite historic building. Now host Griff Rhys Jones, architect Ptolemy Dean and building conservationist Marianne Suhr are spotlighting 21 structures of architectural, historical and social importance scattered throughout the UK's villages. Restoring any one of them could mean reviving the spirit and livelihood of an entire community.
Tonight viewers can vote for either Massey's Folly in Hampshire, Tollesbury Granary in Essex, or Watts Gallery in Surrey, with the winner entering the live final on 17th September.

Prehistoric Park
Second in a series of six programmes.
A 50ft-long super croc, enormous creepy crawlies and the daddy of the dinosaurs - the tyrannosaurus rex - will populate the ultimate wildlife sanctuary. Zoologist Nigel Marvin goes back and forth in time to save everything from super-sized insects to woolly mammoths in the moments before their extinction.
Tonight he travels back 10,000 years to the Ice Age in search of the last remaining woolly mammoths. But will an unexpected encounter with a cave bear put a stop to his plans?

SUNDAY 30th

Tribe.
Last in a series of three programmes in which Royal Marine turned explorer Bruce Parry embarks on a second series of adventures among indigenous tribes, this time along Ethiopia’s ethnically diverse Omo Valley.
A terrifying night-time crocodile hunt awaits. BP concludes his three-month expedition through a remote valley in Ethiopia with a demanding stay with the Dassanech on the shores of Lake Turkana near the Kenyan border.
Tribe returns for a third series next year.

A 50ft-long super croc, enormous creepy crawlies and the daddy of the dinosaurs - the tyrannosaurus rex - will populate the ultimate wildlife sanctuary. Zoologist Nigel Marvin goes back and forth in time to save everything from super-sized insects to woolly mammoths in the moments before their extinction.
NM travels back to prehistoric China in a bid to locate one of the strangest dinosaurs that ever lived - the four-winged flying microraptor. Back at the park, meanwhile, Martha the mammoth is feeling the heat and the two T-Rex are about to reach boiling point.

Other fiery peaks caused famine in Europe and the US and influenced everything from the invention of the bicycle to art, religion and literature.

First in a new series of six programmes.
A re-enactment of the amazing journeys undertaken in 1911 by Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen to reach the South Pole. Bruce Parry leads the contemporary British team, while Rune Gjeldnes marshals the Norwegians, with both groups using the same equipment available to the original groups. But first the teams have two weeks to accli8matise to the weather, equipment and their new sled-dogs. Continues on Wednesday at 9.00pm.

A re-enactment of the amazing journeys undertaken in 1911 by Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen to reach the South Pole.
On the 1911 expedition, Amundsen relied on dog-sleds to power him to the Pole, while Scott chose motor-sledges, ponies and man-hauling. And as the present day dog teams set off on their hazardous arctic journey, it becomes clear why - the Norwegians are making steady progress, but the British are struggling to control their dogs.

NM continues his quest to rescue long-lost creatures from extinction by travelling back 1 million years in time to track down one of the most ferocious predators ever, the sabre-toothed cat. Meanwhile the park wakes up to a wonderful surprise - the first baby dinosaurs for 65 million years.

The British casualties alone amounted to 50,000 killed or wounded in the savage fighting of 1915. Some of the bodies appear to have been laid out carefully, with their possessions - why? And what is the connection between the battle and the young Adolf Hitler?

Zoologist Nigel Marvin goes back and forth in time to save everything from super-sized insects to woolly mammoths in the moments before their extinction.
NM continues his quest to rescue long-lost creatures from extinction by travelling back 300 million years to prehistoric Scotland, where he encounters dragonflies the size of eagles and a 10ft millipede. Back at the camp, Suzanne is trying to save the life of the injured T-Rex and is hoping to encourage the two sabre-tooths to breed.

While Adolf Hitler’s Nazi regime was based on a myth of racial purity. Hitler himself was at constant pains to hide his own, Less-than-flawless lineage. Featuring interviews with some of the Dictator’s living relatives, this documentary reveals who the Fuhrer’s family were and how he tried to control them - from the niece who committed suicide, to his English-born nephew who extorted money from his uncle by threatening to expose dark family secrets.

Nuremberg: Goering’s Last Stand.
Compelling feature-length documentary commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trial - the first international war crimes trial - organised by the Allies to deal with the most senior ranking Nazis captured in the final days of WWII. Centring around the drama unfolding in the claustrophobic prison, the story reveals what the world’s press couldn’t see in the courtroom - the hidden duel between Hitler’s surviving henchman Goering, the most senior Nazi captured alive, and his jailer, Colonel Burton Andrus.

In a breathless conclusion to the series, NM travels back to prehistoric Texas in an attempt to rescue a deinosuchus - the largest crocodile that ever lived. With his intended bait having bee eaten by a group of troodons, NM must turn to his only alternative - himself.

Who Downed Douglas Bader?
A Spitfire pilot who lost both legs in an accident before WWII, Bader holds a special place in Britain’s wartime history. His war ended abruptly however when he collided with a German plane over northern France in 1941 and spent the rest of the war as a PoW. Recently new evidence has emerged which casts doubt on Bader’s version of his crash. Historian Andy Saunders and specialist air crash investigator Bernie Forward embark on a search for the remains of his aircraft.

The Vanished Capital of the Pharaoh. Rediscovering the legendary city of Piramesse, a magnificent ancient capital built 3,000 years ago by the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses the Great, who lavished it with statues and obelisks, temples and palaces designed to awe all those who entered. What was once a teeming metropolis, a gateway to ancient Egypt, was lost for thousands of years and the quest to find became one of archaeology’s great prizes. But why when it was located, was it found to be in the wrong place, somewhere Ramesses could not possibly have built it?

Lost Cities of the Ancients.
Second in a series of three programmes revealing some of the world’s greatest lost cities and solving the mystery of why they disappeared by following scientific clues.
The Cursed Valley of the Pyramids. A strange lost world lies in northern Peru. The Lambeyeque people were haunted by a terrible fear and believed pyramids were essential to their survival. This conviction reached its height at Tucume, an eerie place of 26 pyramids side-by-side - created before the community vanished forever. The quest to solve the mystery behind the pyramids took almost 100 years to solve. The film recreates the bloody scenes of human sacrifice that took place at Tucume, culminating in a frenzy that led to the purging and abandonment of the city of pyramids - a desperate act that brought to an end this thousand-year-old civilisation.

Barbara Windsor traces her grandfather to the East London Docks and discovers that his mother was a match girl at the Bryant & May factory.
