I live in a property overlooking the dig at Roman Gate.Just wondered if it was successful and if you had any idea when/if it will be televised.Is there any literature concerning Roman settlement in this area of west sussex.

Not sure whereabouts in Roman Gate you're referring to, Phillip so this website might be a starting point

Also, I don't think the transmission dates have been finalised for the next series of Time Team but it will probably be on next year sometime, usually from Jan- April. The production crew don't usually post here either.

Hello Chris,
Roman Gate is at the junction of the A29 (Stane Street) & A281,just north of Billingshurst.

Hi Philip,

The dig went very well - we were investigating a roman site discovered in the 1920's, and which appeared to be a Roman mansio and associated settlement. The site was pretty damaged by ploughing, but was very interesting.
The site will feature in the forthcoming series, which starts sometime in January I think - dates not finalised yet..

To be honest, the site had been very thoroughly gone over by metal detectorists, so metal finds were extremely sparse indeed.
