Watched this on Sunday - one of the best programmes I've seen on TT. The objects found were beautiful and in much better taste than I had expected - the name was rather an offput. The buckle was stunning, and the glass too. Amazing that it was found in one piece. Why is Southend not proud of its archeological/ historical heritage? Pity they have allowd the site to become a dump.
But why are the tree huggers there ?? Presumably becuase the site is due to be developed, in which case the heritage factor would be lost anyway. Surely if the Council wanted to protect the site the hippies would go away ?? Keep at it, I say.....
What was there, has been taken away, there is nothing to protect. All that's left is a patch of grass next to a busy main road. Anything has too be preferable to the present eyesore, people have to look at on a daily basis.

If you look at the photos from last year you can spot a couple 'Time Teamers'.
Damian Goodburn was giving wood working demonstrations and Sam Newton (who is a local boy) was there with what could be the lyre that was made during the 'King of Bling' programme!
While it is not clear who will be there this time it should still be worth a visit.
What a superb programme! I was amazed by the stunning quality of finds discovered.
I missed this programme the first time around - although I think I remember Tetricus mentioning Prittlewell, I had no idea where it was - or of the quality of the site. Quite incredible - and good to see most of the Time Team very much involved from the start.
Does anyone have any idea whether these finds are on display yet and, if so, where?
