Twelve. I tried to cut and paste but got an automated message to the effect that, because it contained trigger words, a moderator would need to vet it before it was posted. Past experience proves that nothing will come of that.

I think you would have to take the links out from there. The links to one of the sites quoted would be the trigger I would have thought, they have been used here in the past to show contradictions in cross fora debate.

--------

I looked at the site last night for about two hours and I daren't post there. It tends to be ultra inclusive to any with constructive 'thoughts' on the matter in hand. There was even a cry for 'creative' writing from one particular person, '...we need it'.Silaction has been attacked quite ruthlessly by some in there and all because they are not absorbing the text. This is after he started a beginners recording pack on this forum that has now been fully adopted by the detectornet miscreants and the Angels at the PAS.

From an archaeological resource point of view this thing stinks to high Heaven but even the latest post on Britarch can't see that.

D'you know D, the sun is shining in a clear blue sky and I have a lump of cheddar and a fresh baguette and I actually don't give a monkeys about their attacks.

The truth is, this is a bonkers and self-serving idea, wrapped in a gossamer thin excuse that can be shredded by a mere hint of logical breeze. Why should I mind if they say I'm out to ban their hobby?

If you want to feel sorry for anyone, feel sorry for Steve who first kicked this horse into it's cliff-top gallop, and who promised us faithfully that all would be clear once launch happened and a press release was issued. Times up, as it always is in the end. Now it's necessary for him and/or Gary to explain the nitty gritty precise logical way in which a non-PAS database helps PAS and is better than getting all their mates to pull their reluctant digits out and report what they find to PAS like decent responsible members of society. I'm absolutely agog as I munch my cheese.

Sadly, neither here nor on Britarch is there the least sign of them. But I can wait.

Are all the records available to all, once relative checks are done? Who is collating and disseminating the information? How does it fit into the strucures in place to update and compliment the archaeological record? How are the general public being informed about this scheme?
I'd be interested in knowing the answer to all of these questions.
Perhaps I can use this to record ALL the finds at the Groundwell dig this year. We will of course be recording EVERYTHING, each individual nail, each piece of pot, tile, glass and the organic stuff - as this is likely to be preserved in much the same way as the floor joist last year. It would be great to parallel record this info - who do I contact?

Chris, as one of the team members of the UKDFD, all I can assure you of at this time is that the database will be wholey complimentary to the PAS.

Any further information, which I am certain will allay all reasonable concerns will be included in our forthcoming press release.

Well that cheese had better have been mature otherwise I have no time for you. Wink

I just used you as an example of the ridiculous way they entertain so called 'debate'. One thing I would like to know though is what the PAS have to say about all of this, they have been victim to some quite severe maronic rumblings and I havent really got time to digest those seriously, I normally end up laughing tragic comic tears. The 'it is their right not to record' has to be addressed not fobbed off but then they wouldnt be able to see that if it came up and gave them 10 figure ngr intravenously through their eye balls.

That's the sixty four thousand artifact question.

A chip shop owner, faced with a new chip shop next door, would be logical and Anglo Saxon about it.
