Agreed. Tessa Dunlop (or someone telling her what to do) got it seriously wrong.
However, at least once she was caught being sensible - when she didn't realise she was on air and was chatting to an archaeologist.
There must be some wonderful out-takes among the recordings from all the microphones and cameras - but all I saw were odd continuity problems.

I sat through ten minutes of the Big Royal Dig which was just about as much as I could stand. Awful. Very nearer as boring and turgid as The Big Dig

Poor old Tessa. It's tough to work your sox off and then realise that everyone else marched to a different drum. The girlpower comment was particularly unfortunate. When I switched into the More4 coverage, I thought at first something must have gone wrong, not realising there would be no interpretation. Little did I know it would be trench cam for hours and hours. I was glad to be watching it from a recording, so x6 gave you the action without the sound of scraping or planes going over. Even so, some of it was like watching paint dry and I'll never grumble about over editing again. It was a very ambitious project and doubtless good archaeology with some telling moments. On the whole, I got intellectual indigestion. Mandy

I agree. I like Phil the way he is. He makes TT the great programme it is. Carry on Phil and DO NOT have a hair cut. quote: Originally posted by Eileen: No, I think he means Mick. There was a shot of him kneeling over a trench with hair streaming in the wind.
Why the hell should Phil have to grow up? I don't intend to!
