Did you watch Restoration 2003?Well Bank Hall was the first building to feature on the Restoration Program,
Bank Hall is set in 18 acres of ornamental gardens which due to neglect of about 60years at least, has become a woodland but the grounds still contain the original trees which beautifuly towered over the lawns.
The Bank Hall Action Group who hold events to raise money to restore the hall, was founded in 1995, since then Bank Hall has been a long way!
Bank Hall was originally built in 1608 with later additions and extentions added in 1832-1833.
It is belived that there was a building pre dating 1608 possibly a wooden structure then a stone structure (possibly being a chapel)and then Bank Hall.
We would love Time Team to come and have a look at our grounds and to see if the yew tree tunnel was inline with one of the present buildings....
It is amazing how the building and grounds remain nearly untouched. The feel of the place on a visit makes you want to go back or stay there, as the grounds are peaceful, and beautiful (especially on a warm summers afternoon)!
