Looks like a set of really interesting sites! Do a little 'digging' around the web and you'll get a good idea of what archaeology might be waiting there. Not going to share though, I won't want to spoil it for people!

I shall be interested to see how the Big Royal Dig fits in with this noble aim!
The royals may own these palaces but I don't they built them themselves! Think about all the 'oridinary' folk associated with these sites - the builders, gardeners, caretakers, soldiers etc etc! (and monks of course at a monastic site)

Best thing to do is to report the post and get the mods to delete it if your not happy with your name being revealed.

Humble Pie time! I was hugely sceptical about the value of Big Royal Dig initially, but I am coming round to it, and looking forward to the continuous coverage on More4. Other members of the B@sil dynasty are not quite so enthusiastic - well they are welcome to try and take the remote off me!

Why do you doubt the value of a dig in the palaces?
This is where 'the action' took place for many centuries.
As pointed out these are the places where many 'ordinary people' (are there any ordinary people?)lived and worked, made love, made money, fornicated, murdered, did any thing for power, these were the places to be.
I am curious -would you really prefer our politicuans to have absolute power like George Bush? HM might not have power as such, but she does at least provide a tiny dignified brake on unbridled ambition and snouts in the trough when possible.
I once worked with two people in power -one born to it one risen from the bottom -guess who really cared about his fellow men and put himself out for them?
The only thing so far I dislike about this programme is the breathless women giving a non stop excitable delivery about precisely nothing (and not even with acting ability)

I found the female presenter's manic style at Windsor Castle *intensely* irritating. And the Scot at Holyrood could do with a haircut. He looks like a woman

A reasonable start to the weekend’s events. I also find the frenetic pace “over done”. Rather like Time Team meets Treasure Hunt. Nice to see some old faces, and having Neil Oliver is a big plus.

Ann, as I said I have come round to the idea of the programme. Mainly because I understand better the potential of such an enterprise. As for tonight's programme it was an hour long show shoe-horned into 30 minutes.

Cricket, she says somewhat wryly, might not be the right comparison to use just at this moment?

She seems to be after a job on one of those Saturday morning programmes for intellectually challenged pre-teens. My missus was incandescent with rage at her ridiculous performance. One of Time Team's major plus points is that it is presented by experts and enthusiasts, not PRESENTERS!

Just for a few moments, I thought I was watching "Treasure Hunt" with Anneka Rice, so similar was it.
Nice to see Jonathan Foyle and Dr Alice Roberts, and the best treat was seeing Neil Oliver. Definitely the thinking womans crumpet, and him being such a good presenter.
Really liked this introductary programme and looking forward to the weekend.

I still have it on the SKY+, you didn't miss a great deal. Just setting the scene really. I'll get the main programmes onto a couple of DVD's

The encouraging thing about tonight's programme was the bit about the format of the live programmes on More4. I was afraid it would just be loads of locked-off cameras with a BB style of presentation, but it would appear to be far more substantial than that.

A good start, it laid everything out on what they are going to try to achieve.
Oh and stop bloody moaning. If you dont like it turn your telly over or off.

Gosh, thank you AJ for that constructive criticism

I'll see what I can do , or would you rather have all of them on one DVD, assuming the SKY+ doesn't play up. I must admit I forgot about last night's programme, it's only that I'd set it up the previous night.
