Ann - thank you for taking the time to come on here at what must be a very difficult period for you and your family.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Ron, but I will sorely miss his wit, wisdom and courage. He had many friends on here who were praying for him and thinking of you all.
I hope you will draw some comfort from knowing how fondly he will be remembered by so many people.

I am sure that Ron would wish us to remember the 19th December 1981:
The RNLI lifeboat 'Solomon Brown' was lost in the night with all her crew whilst trying to rescue the 'Union Star' off the Cornish coast.
The plaque recording this makes me stop and reflect everytime I see it on the sheer selflessness of those men and the lifeboat crews today.
Oh that others in public life had that dedication!

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words, thoughts and prayers for Ron. They were all very comforting to me.
Good luck to you all Ann

Dont know what happened there but I left a link in the last message for you to see some photos of Ron. The link along with a paragraph has been deleted. It was definately there as I tested it myself. Did any of you manage to see it before it disappeared? If not, dont know how I can let you have the link again, any suggestions?
Regards, Ann

Ann, this forum doesn't permit such personal links, or indeed, almost any links. Not their fault, it's just the rules.
We would love to see the link, and the pictures.
Please mods, let this stay for a while. Thanks.

You'd have thought that in the circumstances the mods might've bent the rules a little.

Well,, I'm lost for words, the important part of the post is missing that I made. The part that said that Ann could find us on Time Team Forum Friends.
Shame...

I am sorry to have missed the fleeting picture of Ron.. I imagined him in a uniform?
Have been out of the picture due to an ear infection which will not go away so Happy New Year everyone and in Ron's memory lets mark all those typically British (mark I say British)eccentricities and loudly protest those actions that seek to destroy them and our history.

This will be moderated just as your post was, Mrs Ron (to avoid confusing you with the other Ann W!). C4 will not allow us to post helpful links. I had a post moderated this morning which explained "why" on another thread as someone was looking for a copy of a programme. It's for our own good! I would love to see pictures of Ron. I feel I knew him so well in some ways and so little in others. I hate to be a pain (and this will probably also be deleted) but if you try looking for our past history in google, you should find an alternative, unauthorised Time Team site which is moderated much more moderately - it might be a pain to have to register, but it's my only suggestion!

Hi, Please accept our sympathy for your recent loss. Unfortunately we do not allow users to post 3rd party links or URLs to image/media files, particularly personal files. We have now verified the content of the URL and are able to share these photos so that friends on the TT forum can see. Apologies for any upset or inconvenience the removal of this content may have caused. Best wishes

C4 Ed - may I congratulate you on the greatest display of common sense that I've seen amongst C4 Moderators in a long time. And also our sincere thanks for your cooperation in this matter. We'd offer you a welly but I think someone closed the TFI on this forum...

Ann has now registered on the Light Side but she also asked me to pass on the following to everyone:
"It was your message about not meeting Ron on the TT forum that got me thinking, well maybe in a way, you could via these pictures. Unfortunately, I cannot login on Ron's username on the TT forum anymore so on my behalf could you thank all Ron's friends for leaving me such lovely thoughts and messages. Hope you all enjoy your lively discussions on the forum, good luck and best wishes Ann"
