Hello All, Here are some re-enactment/living history events from my diary:
11/12 Jun (this weekend) Silures Iron Age society will be at Mam Tor in Derbyshire. The Vicus will be at the Museum of Welsh Life in St Fagans near Cardiff.
25/26 Jun Chester Roman Festival featuring lots of groups. It takes place at Chester race track and includes a fort, military and civilian living history, arena displays etc.
9/10 Jul Caerleon Roman Festival Multi group event includes living history and arena displays.
23/24 Jul The Vicus will be at a display at Hounslow (Just west of London)
30/31 Jul Flag Fen will be exploring Peterborough's archaeology. Iron Age display provided by Ancient Whispers (me)
13/14 Aug Britannia are at Kelmarsh Hall (Northants I think) doing their late Roman Early dark age thing.
27-29 Aug The Vicus will appearing at a multi period event in Sheffield
10/11 Sep The Vicus will be appearing at the Tank Museum at Bovingdon in Dorset.
17/18 Sep The Parisii are down to do an Iron Age display at the Peat Moors centre, Westhay near Glastonbury.
These are the events written down in my diary. I will not necessarily be at the events myself
For more info on the various groups, please look at their respective websites.
It looks more accessible than previous years' events (no windy narrow country lanes to queue down!) but I guess anybody else travelling on the A14 won't be too chuffed!
Don't think I'll bother - Kelmarsh Hall boasts no shop!
It is a couple of years or more since EAFF visited Flag Fen though - that event sounds interesting.
