I think there was a bit of a backlash when we sent back the Tasmanians, and boards of trustees are vacillating. Without strong government pressure, it's unlikely the Parthenon frieze will go back to its place of origin, which is as things should be. If all international museums could only display materials donated within their own countries, what a miserable, parochial business it would be. Perhaps we could give the Greeks a bit of Stonehenge as a goodwill gesture.
