As a complete amateur, probably like a lot of TT viewers, would it be an idea to produce a TT Special programme detailing some of the facts, terms and "how on earth..." side of things?
For example, how much soil is deposited on a site or is it the action of worms lowering the existing soil? How does geo-phys' work? Millions of other questions like those.
Now I know that I can find the answers from sites like this, the Internet etc but can everyone?
Any thoughts anyone?

Good idea Nige! A bit easier than the way I set about finding the answers to those questions, which was by becoming a recycled student and studying archaeology.

I think such a programme would be both entertaining and informative, and attract a lot of viewers. Let's hope someone from the TT production team takes up the idea.

Don't some of the TT books cover some of these topics?

Yes indeed the books do cover a multude of FAQ's, but I would still enjoy watching a programme dedicated to the why's and wherefores etc...

Since when did Channel 4 take any notice of what their viewers would like to see?

John

I love it when a plan comes together.

The books might cover these FAQs but I haven't read them and seeing them on 'the box' would bring them to a larger audience. You would also be able to see described exactly what you see during the programmes.
As for Channel 4 not listening, I will ring the production team after the break and see what they say. I can only ask and i will let the formum know of any results.
Now going back to watch 7 hours of it on the box!

I definitely would like to see a programme like that and pretend I already know so much (when really I dont). Theres only so much books can tell you and they get very very boring.

I think a programme of this type would be infinitely preferable to
any more of the “Worst Job” variety.
Although we might find it entertaining, Ch.4 would probably class it
as educational, and therefore might have problems selling it to the
Discovery channel ?, which is the all important factor.
