Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but I seem to have stopped receiving Trench One? I have tried to contact the email address (timeteam@channel4.com) and the address bounced back. Does anyone have any contact details for this? It's possible my subscription has expired but I've not been contacted about it at all to renew it.
Hi Cornishman thanks for your post - unfortunately the number is unobtainable and the link you've given seems to link directly back to this forum (bizarrely).
I used to get T1 too, they didn't send me a renewal reminder, but then again it wasn't worth anything like the amount charged for it, so I wasn't going to renew anyway! There are far better magazines on the market and better value for money too!
Thank you for all your posts. I have recently subscribed to other magazines, but did enjoy Trench One from time to time. Perhaps the fact that the number I tried to call is unobtainable and all other methods of establishing contact with 'them' have hit a wall, speaks a volume in itself...
I had exactly the same problem Eltanim when my subscription ended without a renewal reminder - their loss as I just subscribed to a different magazine.
I owe a big debt of gratitude to Trench One - seeing my copy prompted someone to tell me about an evening class for GCSE archaeology, and one thing led to another....
So its demise, if that's what has happened, is a pity, but I, too, now subscribe to other archaeology magazines instead.
It's all a bit strange as I've only just had one. I've kept it going as it's been of passing interest in relation to the programme, but it is a bit thin in comparison with other archy journals.
Have checked my Sept edition of Trench One. In it is a subscription form and a telephone number. I have tried the number and it works - you get thro to C4's sales line. So I reckon you should be able to renew/sign up if you want. The number is 0870 400 2240, and is open from 0830 - 1730. The address is Trench One, Codestorm House, Walton Road, Farlington, Hampshire. And the price is £18.50, £9 for Young Archaeologists Club members.
Just an update for everyone, I got through to the 0870 number and was told to ring a different number. When I got through to that number, I was told that Trench One is being discontinued as of the end of this year, which is probably why the reminders were not sent
Quite frankly the business sense of Channel 4 is appalling. They never really publicised it at all.
If they had publicised it better, allowed credit card/direct debit etc. for renewal they would have sold a lot more AND kept their customers. It's not surprising they didn't manage to sell many.
Serves them right. I have chosen CA/CWA .. much better.

I've just received my latest copy too and my renewal is due in December or not now as the case seems to be!! Trench one seems to have disappeared from the TT website as well, would have been nice to know this from Trench One rather than through the forum, afterall we're still paying subscriptions!!!
However saying that I have always enjoyed Trench One (and the TT club before it) and lets face it if you're subscribing to a magazine about a TV programme, what do you want to see in it? I for one wanted information on the programme, the people involved with it, the specific sites covered, any follow up information on the sites etc etc etc, the "other" archaeology articles in the magazine hardly got read because as many of you have said there are other magazine out there that cover that, the archaeological content is not really why alot of us subscribed to Trench One in the first place is it? It was a good idea but I agree was well overpriced for what you got. It could have been great. It could have covered the hole left by the lack of the "Site Reports" since 1999, and covered much more........even so........... I'll still miss it
Have to agree with your there Cally - I used to read all the programme based articles and would leave the archaeology bits to the end. I do miss the magazine and the site reports even more as they gave an indepth look at the sites covered and conclusions that sometimes weren't in the actual programmes due to the time constraints.
That's bad news. While it was fairly thin latterly (despite heroic efforts by Steve and reliable contribution from Carenza) I did find it of some interest to TT followers. In the latest edition Carenza has confirmed she's left the programme, the BRD being her parting contribution (I apologise if I misread this), so presumably without her two pages the magazine would be even thinner.
I'm just doing the trench one section over at the unofficial time team site. Problem I have is that I only have the first 14 issues. I'm looking for the Trench 1 magazine, issues 15-29, so I can add to the rest. If you have spare copies, or you simply do not want yours no more, or could find it in yourself to loan me them for a couple of weeks. I would gladly pay for any reasonable costs for postage and the magazines themselves.
Failing all the above, a scan of the cover and contents page would suffice till I get copies.
My site is listed under the Time Team related sites on the official site here :
Hi, I have issues 17-20 and 25-27. Unfortunately i don't want to prt with them but have scanned the front cover and contents. How can i get them to you?
That would be a great help till I get hold of them.. Please google unofficial time team and first on the results will be my website. Once on the site, you should see a block on the left entitled "Can you help", here you will see my email.
Many thanks short round, and not wanting to part with them is understandable.
