Time Team's regular archaeologist Mark Corney is teaching two surveying courses, run by the University of Bristol's archaeology department. Details:

How To Survey stage 1: Sat 22 & Sun 23rd October at a site in Shepton Mallet.

How To Survey stage 2: Sat 29 & Sun 30 Oct again at the site and in the Dept. of Arch. at Bristol.

Stage 1 will introduce basic techniques such as setting up a baseline, etc. Stage 2 will cover plane-tabling with a day in the classroom drawing up the results. The site is a deserted medieval village. You do not have to attend the first weekend to do the second but you obviously should have some surveying experience already if you want to do the second stage.

This is an excellent opportunity to meet one of Time Team's archaeologists and become a part of Bristol's vibrant archaeological community that includes Mick Aston and many other Time Team pepole!
