For me, it was the original, the one and only Trench Fell Inn. So many lovely people, it amost felt as if one knew them personally, a real community grew up around it.
Also... Sorry but there was also, Tony's Helmet and SAAS!! Great inventive nonsense.
Thinking about it, there was far more archaeology discussed in those days than there is now, even when a series is running, F1 was more vibrant than it ever is here, trolls and all, they all added to the interest and diversity of what was F1...
F1 (Forum 1) was the forerunner to this Forum. No-one had to register and it was very lightly moderated, so it all became a bit like the Trences of the Somme at times, but it was all good fun!

I Thought that might be the case! Ta. Is it me or is this forum quite heavily policed?
I rather liked "Pointless Postings" and the "It Wasn't Me" thread.
And I liked the 'frame' system - for us technophobes it made switching from thread to thread, and finding your place in the longer ones, much easier. Also you could keep track as things only changed colour once you'd read them, so if you visited the forum but didn't catch up with everything you didn't have to rack your brains as to whether you'd read something or not!
And it was certainly much livelier! Remember the cornish troll? S/He was always good value...
I remember a very funny thread about haggisi and their natural history which I printed off in its entirety and posted on the wall of my prison cell - I mean my workstation....
