Watching last night's programme at the part where the re-opened 1960s tunnel partially fell in and created the void above, I wondered why, in today's health & safety conscious times, the team seemed to be relying on 40-year-old roof supports? Why the heck weren't they replaced/reinforced straight away?


PS I might have missed something, so I'm ready (as always) to stand corrected.

I watched the programme, but I can't say that it's a monument which I find particularly inspiring.

They should just fill the whole thing in and leave it alone.
