Our first trip of the year is planned for the weekend of 21st - 22nd April.

It's the St Georges Day Festival at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire.

See Here for details.

It looks like being a good day out.

Gosh, I only just found you down here! Smile

At least it's finally appearing on the website.

All are welcome, of course, old faces and new. Details of where to meet and when will follow nearer the time (generally the day before, given past experience!).

It's going to be on the Sunday, 22nd, probably meeting up around 10.15, probably near the entrance somewhere.

Is anyone up for a trip to King's Lynn Museum, some time after Easter?

The museum has recently undergone a major refurbishment and will, by then, hopefully have been re-opened with the long-awaited new display of many of the Seahenge timbers.

Details to be announced as and when information about the opening date is announced.

Count me in Big Grin.

There's also another St George's Day festival at Wrest Park on 19th and 20th April for any who are interested.

I caught a piece on the regional TV news this morning - Ben Robinson, county archaeologist from Peterborough Museum was talking about the remains ofa substantial Roman Villa which is being unciovered at Bedford Purlieus, near peterborough. It appears to be an extensive building and is said by the commentattor to have 'blown away' archaeologists.

Protesters first to visit Seahenge as museum opens doors
Eastern Daily Press, Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Dr Hanley, who was presented with one of the first copies by Mr Nolan, said the museum's display was based on strong archaeological evidence about the circle and the changing landscape around it. He said visitors were being encouraged to leave their views of the exhibition and any interpretation of what the circle's purpose might have been.

So we have Wrest Park, St Georges day bash on the 19/20th.
Plus a trip to Kings Lynn.

I would prefer the 19th (Sat) for Wrest Park, and virtually any other Saturday for Kings Lynn.

Our trips out are very informal Dick, there's no membership or anything like that.
A few of us decide to meet somewhere, and that's it. Quite a few of us are members of English Heritage so it helps if it's one of their properties or events.

Most of the arranging gets done on the alternative
Time Team (forum friends) website.
