What had Phil done to his wrist? Is it ok now?

I'm told this programme was actually the first of the season to be filmed so I would assume it's OK now.

It wasn't just his wrist but his whole hand that was swollen. Looked to me like gout, I've had a number of attacks that were almost identical and I believe Phil has suffered with this before.

Very painful and he has my complete sympathy.

That's 'cos you're living so high on the hog, Fil! Eek Big Grin

Seriously, when my Mum's hands swell like that the GP puts it down to rheumatism in the wrists.

But gout in the wrist? Although it can occur in any joint that's a bit unusual. Noticed that when asked what he'd done he replied that he didn't know. Odd. Maybe too much guitar strumming while quaffing copius quantities of beverages from that brewery he has shares in..

Not as unusual as you might think. I know it's generally connected with the big toe but believe me it can and does get into any joint. I've had it in knees, elbows and fingers as well as wrists.

The fact that he didn't know what he'd done to cause it was another clue. My guess is he just woke up one morning with it all puffy and swollen, not to mention hurting like hell. That's how it happens.

Ugh, not nice. A thirty-three year old neighbour of mine had problems with his GP on this. When he was eventually diagnosed as having gout, his GP was adamant, right up to the time - I'd imagine, so I'm told, as it was related to me, etc, etc - that the hospital consultant's report landed on his desk, that the chap was "simply too young to have gout".....Go figure. Hope Phil keeps taking the tablets.

Jenni! Cold shower! NOW!!

Greyrider:- I had my first gout attack when I was 23. Fortunately I was referred to a consultant who'd suffered from it since he was 18 or 19.

18 or 19? Good gout! (I managed to avoid the puffy and swollen jokes, too easy).
