I may be wrong, but it seems you now have to register just to read the forums, even if you're merely browsing the postings and not posting - at least I just had to log in....

If I'm right, that's yet another change to this forum from Channel 4....

WE need more people who are arch.s to write to leicester city council to say you cant get away with this its illegal! LOL no joke.

I must say I agree with you on this one, there seems to be alot of bantering going on, but no one really talks about what is going on around the country/world.

It would be nice to hear what people are doing and courses etc.

Even finding out more about the Time Team crew how they are going about finding new information for future programmes.

Hello all, just realised that, although I've posted a couple of times, I've never really introduced myself.

At the time of writing, I wouldn't even dream of calling myself an amateur archaeologist, having never been on a dig or got my hands dirty come to think of it. Just have a keen interest in all things archaeological really, particularly stone circles and egyptology. Am also a big fan of the Tudor period if only for the gorgeous frocks (yes, I am a woman before any dodgy comments are made...) Wink

Am looking forward to being welcomed in to the archaeology community, and have made a couple of friends here already I think (hope!)

With best wishes
Eltanim

Welcome Eltanim. We're mostly a pretty friendly bunch.
Most of the reuglars on here moved over to the alternative forum, when CH.4 threatened to close this one.

Try putting Time Team Forum into Google - its about the sixth listed site, distinguished by the word Index in the title.

You could also try Time Team and add the word Warpo and see where that takes you!

I think this may have been posted before, but I thought this as good as anywhere to post it.

How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

Just a quick hi from a new member - I used to be a member of the East Anglian Group ... Just got back into archaeology after a five year break - have a website about it below, hope to start fieldwalking again in the next few weeks. My name is Paul, live in Thetford - Norfolk, and love British prehistory, lithics, and surface collection archaeology...

Might just start spamming this board regular ;-)

Welcome to the Forum OP.

I'm sure Steve Platt will reply to your question, but in the meantime, if you go to the main site menu and click on "Programme FAQ's." your will be able to make contact...

How can I tell Time Team about a possible new site to investigate?

Have you found a Roman mosaic under your patio? Unearthed an Anglo-Saxon burial while digging up your lawn? If you have discovered anything that you think Time Team should investigate, please write to us at the address below:

Good luck. I live not far away from Long Crendon, so I'll be very interested to see the outcome...

Is there really any point in keeping this thread? A month since the last post, and only three all year! It doesn't do much to promote the forum, does it?
