Hello Everyone,
I'm kind of a new member, i originally joined the forum about 3 years ago but i've been neglecting it due to rennovating my house.
Its good to be back anyway and looking forward to the new series, disappointed though that the midlands has been shunned again!

Just thought i would ask,why is there not more metal detectorists about? Is it because mick and tony cant stand the hobby. Because those that do it can really find the history, and have done in the past, we are not all that bad. Its other people that give us a bad name. Enjoyed Time Team since it started, keep up the good work.

Hello Leanne. Welcome to the TT Forum. There are a few regulars in Oz posting here. Don't worry about posting about any series that is behind the UK's showing as the satellite channels are always showing old episodes too.

Hi, I'm new here. (Seems like there are a lot of new people here, judging from the posts.) Anyway, I am curious as to how the Time Team select sites to explore. Britain is saturated with history, of which many will be interesting to archaeologists and many would likely make excellent television. The overlap must be overwhelming. So how are sites picked?

I'll bet that's on the FAQs, well it used to be when I was a newbie. There are a lot of criteria that have to be met and it's not at all straightforward, that I do know.

Hi All, I am another newbie to this site, I have been a fan of TT for quite a few years now, I live in east yorkshire on the yorkshire wolds a wonderful place steeped in archeaolagey, Has anybody been to a place called Wharrem Percy? there is remains of a medieval village and church there with lots of really nice walks in the area

Would the time team be interested in searching for a lost village. My ancestors called Cullen lived in Motherwell North Lanarkshire in a place called Carshoogle in Dalziel Estate during the 16/17 century. They were all weavers, working 17 hours a day, and were probabally some of the first residents here. They were buried in the Auld Manse Cemetry which is nearby. I would like to find the village to see if any relics are there. There is a map in the Heritage Centre in Motherwell, but I find it difficult to locate it as the terraine and river Clyde have changed.

Welcome to the forum. They may be interested in the site, but you'd need to contact them directly, as no one from the programme visits here. There is info about how to do this under FAQ on the main TT website pages.

hello all at Time Team.
Last night you gave details of some Ceramics found in the west country of the UK that apparently originated in Turkey 1500 + years ago.
Could you please take note that 1500 + years ago that region was not known as Turkey it was ARMENIA aka Hayland ( Haystan ) Armenians were Celts, Indo European, and its an insult that the Turkish invaders who butchered whatever they found there should take any credit for those ceramics
thanks

Congratulations Madge. Doing it the OU way needs lots of dedication and discipline. I take me hat off to you. I'm an original forum groupie who has been away having a topy-turvy life for a few years, but I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things again. The time periods I'm most interested in are the early modern in Europe and the Palaeolithic. Mandy
