I'd also like to know about this. I found a thread about a question I'd wanted to ask about months ago and never got around to. It's now closed. Recently too.

Forum rules suggest we avoid posting fresh threads where a similar topic already exists. This is making compliance a little difficult.

I hadn't noticed this. They're all unarchived now. There must be an auto-archive feature on the forum. Let me know if there are other topics you want unarchived in the future.

Only additional resurrection I can think of requesting is the old EXA thread, which isn't even to be seen in the thread listings any more. Long gone, that one?

What was that I read somewhere about when someone ceases their forum membership, all their posts vanish, possibly taking entire threads down with them? That can't be right, surely?

Yes, the EXA thread's long gone and unfortunately it's also true about a person's posts departing with them if their forum membership is terminated. This means that any threads they started disappear entirely too.
